It entertains me to see mortals compete and face great challenges, and so it
it is that I place this one before you. The goal is simple: slay Tiamat,
Queen of Dragons. I will find some suitable way to reward successful teams.

In weighing how much I favor each victorious team, I will prefer earlier
triumphs to later ones, and kills made with smaller or weaker teams to those
made with larger and stronger ones. Of course, a team that fails wins nothing.

Should you achieve this fate, send word to me, listing the members of your
team. This challenge is open until the end of Sunday, December 6th.



Add to that:

1) I'll remind everyone again that it's generally to your advantage to beat the other ancient dragons before going after Tiamat.

2) Feel encouraged to send me logs of fighting Tiamat.

... got Tiamat to writhing twice and convulsing once I believe. It's a tough fight. The group composition was:

Naqnoq (me) - transumter
Tarleton - bard
Glurgick - warrior
Dark elf healer whose name I forget

I think that was it, may have been a fifth though.

Yeah, I've repeatedly seen people ALMOST do it and then start making big mistakes. Nothing about Tiamat really gets harder as she gets beat up, so in theory a group that can make headway can finish the job.

It wasn't pretty.

As far as I know where were no successes, but I haven't checked my notes since before the deadline either.

We killed every dragon with our group before trying. I saw no benefit whatsoever to doing so. This me be an oversight but the essences can be dispelled. About the only advantage was that it gave me a better idea of what to expect; however, I still think Tiamat is a bit over the top.

It's reasonably subtle, but having tried it both ways in testing, I'm just telling you what I'd do if I were doing it.

The code on all the ancients has changed since that time so that they're tougher now than they were then, thanks to me for robbing Tiamat's treasure (with a different character) while Daev was snooping us and him consequently remembering that he forgot to implement a piece of code.

Actually they aren't; you just can't run in and loot the chest without killing the dragon.

Which I wrote code for as part of the initial work for the lairs but wasn't smart enough to actually attach to the chests.
