Both the success (unravels) and failure (unaffected) echos for various communes (i.e. they show up as "Commune:" in the "affects" command) reference them as spells. Ex:

The magic of your frenzy spell unravels.
The magic of the fervor spell is unaffected.
The magic of your protection from good spell unravels.
The magic of the armor spell is unaffected.
The magic of your detect invis spell unravels.
