You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Helpfile says:

BACKFIST
The uraken, or backfist, is a short strike that is nearly impossible to
avoid. The strike is done with the back of the assassin's clenched fist,
right at the knuckle. The closeness of the strike as well as the victim's
momentum allow for telling blows.

An assassin with this skill is able to take advantage of openings in their
foe's defenses more readily, gaining additional strikes in combat as long as
they have at least one hand free of encumberances. Proficiency in the hand
to hand skill is recommended.

This is an automatic skill.

I'm a felar, but I'd expect a blunt attack (given that it's the back of the paw/hand):

A shadowy Nightwalker dodges your wrath.
A shadowy Nightwalker dodges your claw.
Your claw MUTILATES a shadowy Nightwalker!
You dodge a shadowy Nightwalker's claw.
You step inside a shadowy Nightwalker's claw with a quick backfist.
Your claw MASSACRES a shadowy Nightwalker!
A shadowy Nightwalker is gushing blood.

So I'm getting claw vs. blunt. I'm sure it just uses the current h2h damage type, just wondering if it's off from the helpfile or not.
