These have been buggy forever. I talked it over with some Implementors, and we decided that gender-changing items are, broadly speaking, too dumb to be worth a great deal of effort. All such items have been stripped of their gender-changing capabilities. In one case, the loss of this (minor) drawback has resulted in a limiting change. The rest are all otherwise unaltered.
