The "Healer" NPC will give the random good stuff to lowbies, but doesn't do any "heal"ing, while the Adept of Yanoreth is the actual healer. The Adept is placed two paces away from recall, while the Healer is one pace away. This seems to be one of those things that has gone unnoticed for so long as to appear standard.
