A nightgaunt "grappled me in a paralytic hold" or whatever when I was still well above 50% health. Didn't carry me off though.

Might be by design, but I thought I'd raise it here.

At the time that it left, I was casting a vampiric touch on it, which might have had some effect? I'm not ever sure the spell went through though.

It is possible for nightgaunts to take you above 50%.
