You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#3166, "Cutoff seems broken"

I'm not sure if it only happens to my current char (Gerbunov), or to
everybody, but my cutoff seems to never work in PK. It always gives
the failing echo, and the victim flees.

Cutoff is 100%, I practiced it on a player, and during all the session
of that practicing I never worked (might be influenced by other
factors: I did it on a shifter in a closed room, but still doesn't
look right).

On mobs, however, it seems to work just fine: I am fighting a druid,
then he flees (here I fail to cutoff), and then I cut off his stupid
treant like several times in a row.

Could you please look into it?

If, as I foresee, you didn't change anything that might be related
in a couple of years, may I pray when I am ready to show how it
doesn't work?

Thanks.

The only thing that has changed in this code in the last year is that it relies more on the polearm skill than it did before. It also works just fine for me (and others I've snooped).

Knock yourself out.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
