I don't see anymore deflections than normally and I have a significant suit of good flagged armor in the low ranks.

I do see deflections but they seem less than I normally do. Like... 0 to 2 a fight and I am a Heavy Warpriest.

The code there is very simple and appears to check all the right variables. Conviction can only help your chances there.
