After communing mend wounds a few times, I noticed that I was never able to get spiritual link to function. I forgot to check aegis, but I'm not sure if the old resists used spiritual link or not anyways.

I also covered Afflict vs. another, defensive Fortress power. Resist Heat and such were not aided by Spiritual Link, so neither will Aegis.
