#15514, "Weirdness with poison + poisonous bite"

I'm fighting mobs as a trapdoor spider; I poisoned the mob a few rounds before with my bite ability.

Your poisonous bite EVISCERATES an acolyte!
Your poisonous bite EVISCERATES an acolyte!
Your poisonous bite DISMEMBERS an acolyte!
You dodge an acolyte's punch.
An acolyte is gushing blood.

You bury your teeth in an acolyte's body.
Your bite decimates an acolyte!
An acolyte is gushing blood.

Your poisonous bite DISMEMBERS an acolyte!
Your poisonous bite DISMEMBERS an acolyte!
An acolyte's punch injures you.
An acolyte is gushing blood.

An acolyte shivers and suffers.
An acolyte's poison wounds him.
An acolyte is gushing blood.

*** here, tick just hit ***

your teeth in an acolyte's body.
Your bite decimates an acolyte!
An acolyte is writhing in agony.

Your poisonous bite maims an acolyte!
Your poisonous bite MUTILATES an acolyte!
You feel more confident as a reddish brown spider!
Your poisonous bite MUTILATES an acolyte!
Your poisonous bite MUTILATES an acolyte!
You dodge an acolyte's punch.
An acolyte is writhing in agony.

Suddenly, the damage I deal goes down significantly, and this has happened every time the mob has lived a tick after the poisoning.
