You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

Was doing some skills work, using two necklaces that are dibilitating enough to make me kill less quick and so prolong fights. This log shows me removing the necklaces when I am alive happy and well and then when I go to use them, they kill me. It seems very odd that this should happen and I wondered if it was a bug, purely because if my hps are X with them both on and I remove them my hps should still be X, so if I wear them again I should not die as it has never happened before.

You have 20 hp, you remove the necklaces, you still currently have 20 hp. You wear the necklaces (which drop your hp let's say 50) and even though this won't drop your max hp below 0, it drops your current hp below zero and kills you.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Then shouldn't it work in reverse for items that increase hp?

<100/200hp> wear brown;wear brown
You wear a sandy brown cloak.
<120/200hp>
You wear a sandy brown cloak.
<140/200hp>

Seems like what's happening with the vis'pas is the above in reverse, e.g.

<100/200hp> rem necklace;rem necklace
You remove a necklace of vis'pa.
<100/200hp>
You remove a necklace of vis'pa.
<100/200hp> wear necklace;wear necklace
You wear a necklace of vis'pa.
<50/200hp>
You wear a necklace of vis'pa.
<0/200hp>

I don't think we need people to try and figure a way out to heal themselves by carring around +hp gear.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
