I got a random "you feel less X" message a lot. It'd always come on a tick and it came randomly. But never on consecutive ticks.

There are some trees scattered about Thera that can grant that to you; my bet is you were walking by one periodically, which gave you X. There's an echo when you do so, but it doesn't exactly spell out what happened.
