You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#324, "Explanation of Absence"

Let me say that I deeply apologize to all the would-be squires that are looking for me. I've been around CF for a good long time, and I fully understand the frustrations of a lack of mortal leadership. The immortals know that I will not fight removal as Marshall if there is an appropriate substitute for me, though the long wait for the return of Heas is drawing to an end shortly.

I started a new job in January in a time of financial diress. Since then I've been working very hard to climb out of the proverbial "hole" and my time on CF has suffered as a result. In addition I'm in a probationary period that requires me to be in the office during business hours if I'm not out with a client. When business hours are over, and I'm not working I'm usually being distracted by a fiancee that never sees me anymore. However once this probationary period is over I'll start playing in the mornings again. I believe it will be within the month, though I'll have to check with the powers-that-be.

In closing I'll just say that I'm as dedicated to Heas as I have ever been, but things in real life are requring more attention than usual. While I am still extremely upset that Iramath and Sydrian deleted I vow that I will be back to show those bastids all the fun they are missing.

Har!

If real life events is causing you alot of trouble to play the game on a consistent basis then you really should step down from the leadership role. Still remain active as a Maran but being a leader requires alot of time and you just don't have it.

Maran has a second, empty leadership position.

If they're lacking in inducters, it's not because Heas is hogging the only one or anything. There's one presumably for the claiming if you can step up and show you're worth it.

Thank you for your concern. In the right situation we'll certainly remove leaders if we have to, it's been done before in every cabal. But we're understanding of real-life too. Even more importantly, as Drok aluded to, the Fort can have four leaders and only two of those positions are currently filled. Heas' absence isn't the problem.

Aarn

p.s. Heas also indicated his willingness to step down as leader if we wanted, in case you missed that part of his post.

Hey hey!

calm down almighty ones!! Even Kalumgar has not been present enough. I am just stating what I feel would be right. It does not mean I am correct or anything but just my opinion.

Yes, he is willing to step down and that is good of him. Yes we all have real lives but hell a leader needs to present more than not and if real life is in the way then perhaps a new leader is needed??

Just a suggestion so please please calm down?

Heh. Acolyte has a spare leader spot, too.

If either of those spots were filled, you'd have a point. As is, I'm thinking a leader who plays only a little beats no leader at all.
