You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. I didn't know where else to post this so I guess this would be the best place.

You description has that you are holding a shield of pure light and a warhammer of such. Nice description and all, but when I looked at you you were wielding a spear.

If you know this then its all good, but I thought I might point out the obvious.

It's an old description from back in the days when I was actively wielding Maran and Ta're (the two hammers Shok has)...then for reasons I'm still unsure of, I decided that a long spear (think of a long nordic spear) fit Shok much better. I haven't updated the description, but perhaps I should. I s'pose in a lot of ways this can be chalked up to why it's a bad idea to refer to equipment in a description.

I know it would point you out as bad. But why dont you put either a copy of you, or a model similar to it in the description room. I haven't been there for awhile but from memory they have a good description, why not make something with a really bad one as a reference too. Just to give the new players a sounding board of types to compare.

Just a thought

Admittedly it won't be of me or any other imm....we're somewhat able to bend the rules of descriptions because of what our characters are...and our ability to control the situations in which we're seen. In other words, if you're looking at one of us, chances are you're looking at us under the conditions we have described in our descriptions. As you pointed out though, at current I'm not wielding my hammer (something that I'll change in a few days as soon as I decide how I want to rewrite it).

Additionally, with mortals mentioning gear isn't a good idea because mortal gear is transitory...imm gear though. Well, let's just say that my gear isn't going anywhere, because the only purpose it really serves is to enhance my character's image and aid in roleplay. Hrm....there's a seperate diatribe I could go off on matching gear with roles in mortal lands...but I'll save that for another day. Anyway...the idea to put a 'bad' description in the desc room is one that might have merit...I'll certainly chat with a few other immfolk and see what can be done about it.

Yeah, actually I like imms mentioning gear in their desc, because then they can give a nice detailed look at what we see when we look at them. Its just I know I look up to you as an imm, I mean you rock, so do other people. I just didnt want newbies to perhaps see you and think weapons and what not in desc is all kosher.

Kind of doesnt make sense but it does, if you know what I mean.

Well anyway, cant wait for your new desc if you rewrite it all.

Now I have an image of Shokai perched on a mountain top
leaning on a spear scanning the world below for
darkness. Maybe it is that the spear is more associated
with 'hunters' ?? Just seems to fit nicely is all.
thumbs up on the spear.
