I hope that you would agree I was pretty cool and took your warning on the chin. At the same time though, I feel like I got screwed just a little bit, and I was wondering if you could answer some of my questions here.
From the Spirit's words, I gathered the following points about Maran's relationship with evil-acting neutrals and Tribunal:
1: Don't hunt neutrals who have been knowin accomplices of evils, even if they actively hunt you. Wait for an imm to flag them 'Hunted by Maran' or some such thing.
Question: What in the world am I supposed to do in these situations. Here they have actively traveling with imperials, scions, and orcs. They're in a six person gang trying to hunt me down. About an hour earlier, two Tribunals in Question attacked myself and my companion south of hamsah just after I raided for the scepter. This being said, am I expected to:
a: Run away and avoid fighting when I see I'm being hunted; or b: Wait around for them to strike first, then defend myself.
With "a" I would say, give me a break. I'm supposed to be a fierce warrior. Why would I run any time I see someone gunning for me. With "b", well, we're not exactly getting in tickle fights here. Often the first strike (especially in my case) makes the difference between living and dying. If I know Player X is going to attack me, standing around to wait for the pincer/bash/whatever is a serious bad move.
2: Don't #### with Tribunal, even if their leaving their jurisdiction to hunt you. They're just doing their job, and are to be respected for it. This includes neutral Tribunals who have actively participated in raids on Maran.
This is kinda what burned me more than anything else. My character doesn't care whatsoever about Tribunal Law, and I as a player don't see why any member of Maran should have to be given "well, they're Tribunal--what did you expect?" as an answer. Tribunal Law should in no way affect Maran, unless the Maran's rp is to consider the ripple effects his crime has against the light outweigh the gain of slaying an evil character. Telling me, 'well, they may be off duty, but they're still Tribunals, what did you expect?' isn't to me a really good excuse, and seems vaguely OOC to me. Why should I as a CG character care about a Tribunal's motives? They're responsible for their own actions, and if those actions kill good characters and protect evil characters (and jeez--especially when they are actively in a big evil gang), why should they be protected by a Maran imm?
I would have accepted you saying 'look ####head, you go into town to stir up the hornet's nest--fine. But if you take this risk, you god damn well only fight the dark while you're in there and not get sidetracked.' But defending those who have (and one of them less than a half hour before our aside) raided the cabal on more than one occasion I just don't get.
Thanks for any response you care to give.
