Mamlauks are more than fine. Don't think of hack/whomp as "always" tools, instead highly effective situational ones.

Try wielding heavy polearms and stop dual wielding lame stuff.

Play DIFFERENTLY. A mamlauk isn't an adaptation you want to pick if you want to play like your normal ol' orc and expect a bonus. It shines (a lot) when you play differently.

you're right about one thing, Mamlauk isn't an adaptation I'd(nor anyone with more than passing knowledge of the class.) want to pick - I'm sure your stats show it has a healthy amount of people playing it though, I can't see that part.
