This seems like a very weak skill to me as is. It's not even a poor man's snare. About the only good thing about it is when it tells you someone stumbled through it. But like snare it only lasts once. I propose that the bramble pit last longer. At least then it will seem like you get some use out of it.

You can use it as an alarm, or you can use it as a dexterity dropping maladiction, and as a bonus you even get some damage out of it. So long, and thanks for all the fish!

It doesn't work when they're flying. It doesn't lag any like briars (druid commune). It doesn't prevent fleeing like wall of thorns did.
Plainsrunners lose the best ranger skill in the game (snare, duh) for a bad terrain and no replacement.
I propose bramblepit have some wall of thorns type capability and fly only reduces the likelihood of hitting it. Call it bramblepatch instead of a pit.

It's basically a magic mouth that might nip someone if they stumble into it without fly up.
And it seems to have a high fail rate.
