#170, "Revisist Bounty"

Allow the capability to place items as bounty.

Rules:

Only one item can be placed at a time for bounty on a person. This bounty needs to be a weapon or armor or some derivitave. Invokables, preps and other miscellaneous items should be kept off the market, as some can easily be used as pointless placeholders to bump valuable items off the list. Yes, this would keep some legitimate bounty rewards off the list but chances are those items would be held by their current owner anyway and most of the rest of the MUD wouldn't have a clue how to use it.

There is no minimum limit for the value of an item (other than 0), but more valuable items put up for bounty on the same person would destroy the less valuable items. This may be an acceptable gambit to free up limited items for use, and that's okay.

0 value items shouldn't be bounty, no matter how valuable they actually are in PK. Similarly, rot_death or cabal_only items shouldn't be valid.

Bounties involving items should be cleared after 6-12 hours. They should be shorter duration so that it will encourage bounty hunters to contact bards and advertise the bounties. At which point the bounty, and the item in question, is cleared. Item bounties should create fierce competition for someone's head if the item is valuable or rare enough in the CF world, especially if it's easier to get the item by killing the person with the bounty on their head than to kill the mob holding said item.

This would create a use for items that people obtain that have an anti_align or anti_ethos flag on them other than sacrifice, that they aren't role-wise allowed to trade. This is also a good way to distribute weaponry to lowbies and create incentives to attack out of PK people.

This might cause powerful, limited good_only items to end up as bounties on Lightwalker's heads. This is a nominal restriction on their RP and they have the option of either waiting the 6-12 hours for it to clear, or to place a more valuable item up for bounty.

Item bounties will be more powerful if bounties as a whole can be placed on out of PK people including 1-10's, and logged off people.

Items that are more valuable than the copper currently on the bounty victim's head should clear the copper bounty. However, no amount of copper should clear an item bounty given the short duration of the item bounty. (the copper bounties last longer, can get larger and are a safe bet as opposed to the item you're donating becoming trash in the 6-12 hour period.) If you want to place a reward on someone who barely ever plays, obscene amounts of copper are a safer bet than item bounties.

And this will follow that post. I'm still interested in making the bounty system better, but nothing suggested thus far has struck my fancy.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
