This has been suggested a bunch in the past and hopefully if we keep suggesting it long enough it might go in. How about the ability to target deaf on a single character who might be spamming you. this saves imm time in having to deal with spammers and it has role play potential. Would only work on one character.
for instance
ignore bubba
you will no longer hear tells from bubba
ignore self
your ears are open to all once more.
