#72173, "War cry penalties"
|
Apparently imms can ding you if they don't like your warcry. Is there a way to find out what exactly they don't like about it? So as to avoid it in the future? What kind of penalties are attached to the "Feeling unsure of yourself, your voice becomes feeble as you shout your battle cry!"? Tried praying, no response.

I recently saw in a log, "Cry 'Havoc!', and let slip the dogs of war"

Smashface lets out a thunderous war cry, "Parting is such sweet sorrow that I shall say goodnight till it be morrow!"
Don't disagree with you. If the IMMs have made the 'dogs of war' quote part of CF, then it's fair game to use.

Careful, if you use "I do bite my thumb at you, sir" the Tribunals will warrant you, even if the other person attacked first.

Like most things, it's subjective.
But I'd recommend that you make sure your warcry is something that's reasonably short and intimidating or inspiring. We call can appreciate something funny or long and poetic, but if you can't imagine a big dude screaming it while running into battle, you should try again.

From "Help warcry"
A warcry should not be chosen lightly, for those who shout uninspiring or inappropriate words have been known to lose the beneficial effects that the warcry might bring. Non-sensical warcrys or "just noise" like 'GRAAAAAAGH' or 'Ah-mu Ah-mu Ah-mu' are likely to fall into this category. Well chosen warcries that are especially pleasing to the gods have been known to carry with them enhanced inspiration.
Neither ALL CAPS nor excessive punctuation need be used in a Warcry-- it's assumed to be shouted, and easier to read if written normally.

Knew about this, but none of this applied. A quick message from the imm responsible would have been helpful at the time.

-1 hit-2svs is nothing as far as penalties go. Do what you like. Ruknubuk has a down graded warcry (“Ruknubuk is gonna #### you upâ€). If the warcry is a real issue they will take you aside, not do the minor ding.
Play for you, not to please the imms and you will have more fun.
I mean they could do worse things to you, like give you a cabal edge.

I always wondered how this was a warcry...
Varric appears more confident as he shouts 'Consider these words your obituary, Death is recruiting regardless of you being ready.'
Yes, I get that it conveys his RP, but holy #### is that a mouthful.
