A few classes can poison food and drink containers. Perhaps one of these priestly classes could be given a low-mid level skill/sup that allows them to remove the taint in the food or water and allow it to be consumable again?
I haven't played either classes in some time and have no idea if they actually can already, but some priestly looking after the flock seems a fair counter to the malicious.
Could even be an edge?
