#4036, "Does it matter who does the bashing?"

If Giant A bashes Giant B, does A have a melee advantage over B in the next few rounds?

No. It doesn't matter.,

As far as I know, bash doesn't give any melee advantage, just a bit of damage and lag.

It's mentioned in the flavor text and the see also -section, which strongly suggests the edge is in fact only against cheap shot.

It seems like when a char hits a resting character, the resting character takes more damage. Does that mean a bashed char takes more damage?

You only take one hit (that can be parried/dodged/whatever) that gets the resting damage boost, then it's back to normal.

So then bashing serves no other purpose than MUTUAL command denial?
I've played games where the 'resting position' lasted for the entire lag. In which case there are strong advantages to bash/trip someone.

Generally, classes that have a multitude of lagging techniques (bash, trip, etc) are also ones that do very well in a mutual command denial situation. Warriors, assassins, rangers, etc. Mages, obviously, tend to have abilities to *prevent* command denial, trying to avoid these situations. Of course, some of the most enjoyable wins are those where the other player is convinced of his superiority, tries to bash you down, and you end up the better in the situation.

Pretty much, yeah. Any other benefits are really incidental compared to that.
