#1614, "It don't seem right"

Let's create a hypothetical situation where a hypothetical newbie wants to be a battlerager. Battleragers show great disapproval of people who wear magical items. How in the #### is said hypothetical newbie supposed to know whether or not the equipment he/she is using is magical or not. Or is the Battlerager cabal exclusively for veteran players that already have identified and memorized most every item on the mud?

I don't mean to sound hypothetically bitter, but it really doesn't seem fair to be hypothetically regected for the absence of technical experience.

Life is a garden... dig it.

Some descriptions make it obvious if you see "magical runes" on something, it probably isn't kosher for a battle applicant.

Many magical items either "look" magical (in their description) or have some other magical-ish property (glow, hum, etc.) If you avoid stuff that's "obviously" magical (charred bracers, for instance) and try to limit the glowing/humming stuff to a single glowing item that you know isn't magical (so you can see in the dark, if your class needs light to do so) then you should be fine. Or just find a rager and ask him to look you over.

Don't wear stuff until you've checked it out with them.

It gives you an excuse for regular contact, and makes it known that you are trying hard.
