You just rock! You're one of those players who make the game more fun... I don't know, maybe it's just your good humour and laid-back way of talking and the irrepressible spirit... I'm usually happy (OOC too) when we're grouped... positive vibe I'd say. The mud needs more nice guys like you. Whatever people might say about IC and OOC being separate, it still gives one a warm fuzzy feeling when people are nice (if an enemy, at least honourable and free of expletives).

Are all your goodie characters alike? Reminds me of Vanadulin... wished I could have played more but am quite busy nowadays... which was also the main reason why I didn't join the fort.

Then there was this drow hand spec of yours I fought with my elf warrior before, guess that makes three of your characters I've known. Though I didn't get to talk to that one... pity.

Hope to interact with your next character in some form or another. I'll learn to recognise the Bajula characters =)

Calcifer, with two elf heroes and no more. Elves are just fun =)

calcifer was a blast to be around. about 80% of the people
I ranked with ended up in the fortress, I was kind of
surprised by you NOT ending up there. I wouldn't say they
are all alike, but the ones that hero or anyone remembers
seem to have certain qualities in common. khelednala wasn't
for instance, and no one remembers him. dwarf vyn pally two-hander
deleted out of boredom at about 48th level. he just wasn't alot
of 'fun' to be around. so no one remembered him.
kind of a stoic guy who, when he expressed my ooc humor, was dry
and a little too serious about it.
a few ones that ended in thier thirties were different.
in the past i had evils so nasty the things they did would get
them summoned by an immortal now (not to pc's mind you, but emotes
over corpses of mobs, or to mobs just before he struck etc..)
now that thrak gave orcs a little love i'll have to eventually
play one of them again. wait til ya meet an orc of mine. muhuhahah.

well the things the people have in common that get remembered...
They are willing to attack at the drop of a hat, against poor odds.
always had an upbeat sense of humor (well Dimion started as a really
sad, depressed elf. for the way i think of elves this would count
as being 'insane', and then he got funnier, and more fun to be around
as time went on)
They honored valiant foes. win/lose didn't matter.
A respected enemy got back everything that i didn't really
need, half the time even money. a weasel would get back something
only because i couldn't carry any more. in a couple of cases
where i thought they 'deserved' full looting i'd stash it all and come
back to the corpse for the rest.
that might be about it. the similar way of speaking came out when
things got hectic, and i didn't really have time to think of how
one of them would say something. i finally stopped saying heh all the time. that was actually left over from dimions early days when i could
not help but laugh at something meladori said, what was a way to express 'i found that amusung' without laughing or smiling etc..

but it got realllly habitual for a long time there.
on a side note i think i played too long and need a break,
in dallas rush hour the other day i told my girlfriend to
'be wary' of a white truck who looked like he was wasted.
scary right?
well i am off.
brain hurt, need coffee

It was entirely awesome to see the first one or two rounds at the Vanquisher heh. Anywho I was thought you were a bit suicidal and would probably meet a grisly end like this and to be honest with you...I don't think there's any better way to prove how crazy a Maran you were. Hrm, I was planning to find a source that we could get together and just monopolize it between the two of us, since there aren't many I can get solo...but I suppose that won't happen now...shame. Anywho you were great to be around an' if you have a next...good luck, chap. ^_^

First shifter, oldest character too, Dimion made it 385
not sure how this came about though, except i spent
alot of time piddling pre pk, because i had no idea how
shifters were suposed to work.

let's see...loads i know i will forget and sorry i don't mean to.
if i put anyone in the wrong cabal sorry i never could keep
up with who was who if you didn't have a title expressing it.
i just place you where i thought you acted like.

Tribunals
Odrirg- after hunting me I decided to blow my next 100 gold
on my friends, as i had ceased to belive anything you said.
i.e. from glil's point of view the money wasn't going to help
the town anyway (ic btw- ooc-i figure you had role reasons for
hunting me, but timing it to coincide with raids from the
empire just smacked of nasty. I sure hope that was accidental.

baendra- just nasty. too bad on the lich thing man.
and yes i was trying to use you to keep the scion off
while we battled for the orb. in retaliation for the
nagesh thing. i didn't get him then, so why not try to
make you the fella who helped him get him for me?
don't remember if it worked but he did get wanted.

traba- early on i as a player figured you were untrustworthy
for my character to hang out with, but you ranked with glil
and from his perspective he would need 'proof' before looking
at you in a bad light. but as time passed even he looked at you
as a 'dirty cop' He even made a few comments that it appeared
you were 'afixed to blitz's hindquarters'. but hey it was all fun.

other tribs:mistrusted you all glil looked at it like you were just
an 'territory' of the empire, not whole incorporated into it, but
in all but name part of the empire.

Battle

Jinroh: really wasn't my fault i found you a couple of times
when others were already chasing you. our fight at the inn
was memorable for me, first time i survived fighting a battle
rager probably with any mage, ever.. all that was ic
glil didn't care if he was in a gang of 10 or alone.
don't care what anyone says you are one tough bas.. oh
can't say that anymore eh? was much fun fighting you.

Adgrizn well ya didn't have to wait long eh?
if elijsie had jumped back in on that one fight
near the fort i would have been meat.
the fight i won against you was primarily
because i had just used an aura wand and was going
after blitz, you however HAD to stop me didn't you?
what was up there my whole life sometimes you'd
pass me by sometimes you'd lay into me...

i forget one fellas name yzemark? not sure assassin
who kept catching me at the totally wrong time.
nice nice work, i'd love to pull of the things you did.

Elijsie I'm impressed that you kept trying. but you had guts
but it always came down to you had better get moving.

Vargal: how on earth did you get me in mortorn, i never saw you coming.

other ragers: just hard to fight, good job, with whoever else
i fought.

zavin- i like your rp but facing you was always just a bad deal.

dralyth: if i saw you and we had the scepter i knew i had better
word and race to the fort, and you still might beat me there.
fastest attack after a log in i have ever seen.
rock on you.

sashindar: I spotted you just before ya went flat in darsylon
and just figured you be sitting by my guild so i fogged
having played a muter i know very well that gut-wrenching
feeling of being forced into three dimensions and not
being able to move for some time.(yuk)

kung: you were like getting hit by a semi on the freeway.

other scion: most of you were cool. i'm much more impressed
with the scion as a whole since dimion's time.

Empire
hafizar?<SP> you little.. oh yeah can't say that either.

brosshal<SP> yeah yeah i know shouldn't have fogged twice.
the enter key on the new keyboard if twitchy i can't
count how many times i repeated myself on cb or gt
or even says, or cast the same spell twice.
makes my teeth itch missing you like that.

blitzenhurt-my favorite enemy. as you can tell i got tired
of the dancing we did for a while me as porc you with polearm
each trying to get the other to hit first. that was funny.
i 'know' each of us was at the kb going 'come on hit me!'
the next to last death just sucked for me. was enlivening
pass door and you showed tried to move south but
was still lagged from 'casting' never got the control up.
bash and cutoff was just nasty. all around a well done
character. i liked you much better than grott. though it
may be because we fought all the time. how often was
it you and me in the middle of the night and no one else on
from either side?

kuulog- well you probably shouldn't have died that time
at the watcher, but i knew if i hit blitz with the lion i'd be
paste on the floor. hate them polearms. more than spears
or staffs.

ghoderian<sp>BRAT! why rot *sniff* had you cunvulsing too dang it, couldn't just fall and let me rot die.
then we both go out killers? hehe i thought i was going to make it too. in the last hour the last dang hour.
i was even getting ready to wake and revert. grumble. i took a steak if you to the heavens with me..
gnawing on it with etheral teeth right now... yummmm.

other imperials: I just forget sorry.

uncaballed (i think)
kak thanks for all the wands!!

tibderolt(sp?) thanks for the talks when i was young.

phrid- sorry man had to take the grandkids home, got back you
were already gone.

ICKY!! sorry i was so busy later in life i really liked you.

arthakhar<sp> damn snake heals too fast.
my apologies for missing the duel. kill imperials
it was all thier fault.

calcifer! great guy sorry for stealing the kill from y ain darsylon it was my intention to start it, get beat up and get out, and leave you all nice and healthy to finish. but nooo, you had to get im first so all the little wombat could do was bite to help out (wombat was pretty nice for that range by the way i liked it, liked all of them)

I know a pile i am forgetting here, been a long day sorry.

Fort:
Captain, well i just wanted out of writing that note. i am half-and-half on the name
(tolkien fan) not sure it should be used, but like seeing those names on elves anyway.
thanks for relieving me of feeling bad if i killed a rager who wasn't tainted.
i still tried not to kill as many as i could, not that i would have been able to
i was not a very 'deathful' kind of guy. thanks for the tips though sometimes rake
was really the way to go.

Audriel- wow, awesome character.

thalric what can i say knew you as lerrik so i kind of steered clear.

vahl(tab) hehe well you can have all them wands now.

thenrek-good sturdy character, thanks for the tips, the directions
and the clothing and and and...

gaf: we had a nifty thing going there for a bit. find some wands
i know i know i hate going to get them too. i know a handfull or two
but seems others always have them all, so i quit going to get them
well later in my life under instructions from the captain i started carrying
one around most of the time.

rem<tab> you could never have shocked me more. if i had not been raking
(and thus lagged) the zombie i sure would have fled though. so probably my fault as well.

scharnz oh hidey cat why did ya do it? shoulda just let me die alone man.

jemar gf was getting up in half an hour, they had the orb, was a perfect time for me to just
go out then. but nooooo. had to keep me alive...

elstravaniel<sp> well singer that was right good. getting the orb back before dying.

golron and mereacon- ahh the good old days. what a blast.

gremnosh get one for me will ya?

Xalli- ahh super ducky doom kick! win one for the gillapiggy.
now certain things about your character don't really sit well
setting wise for me, but you were so much fun to have around
i didn't care, you could have been incapable of heling in a battle
and i still would have run around with ya. besides glil thought you
were pretty cute.

linwe- first kiss ugly ol glil ever got. i always had a soft spot
in my spines for ya.

other fort folk -strike true i don't mean to leave ya out, but i have to
address something and by the time i am done i'll probably not remember
or be too drained to add you.

Nhiala- well well once captain, i just wanted to let ya know i never once broke the oath
that you had me give. even when i was sitting alone in the fort, under orders to stay there
and every single other person went out into a fight *I* wanted to be in, which brings me to
my problems with the fortress.

I love the fort, i love the people, i love the ideals, but...
yeah you were waiting for the but eh?
#1 for Shok's sake TALK to each other.
remember when celeb was a squire? he'd log on and i knew as his
virtual feet hit the ground he was off and running to empire or the chasm
so i'd let him know we had all the items. because someone needs to let people know.
I logged in a few times happened to be a raid coming that everyone knew about
i couldn't even get anyone to tell me if empire or scion was coming.
much of the time the news i got that someone was coming to raid was
the maran yelling it out. how i would find out someone had the orb was
not finding the cabal power within you. if you are a younger squire/scribe
and can't harm anyone that's coming you can report on what is going on.
okay maybe that sounds bad, a million reasons why someone could not.
if you are involved with preparing for the defense hey makes sense.
cast, com quaff, zap, shielding others, etc etc..
and younger ones might be out ranking. but if you are sitting in the fort
and someone shows up, let em know what's going on. just because someone
shows up when a raid is about to go down does not mean they were called in
by someone on a messenger! maybe that is so commonplace it is assumed.
It feels like a couple of h.s. football teams where one practices and has
gameplans, and the fortress has the guy with his finger in his nose staring
at the sky and several who are trying to showboat, and a couple of others
who are trying to pull it together as a team, but it just never works.

(i was probably finger in the nose guy, don't get me wrong i'm not
downing anyone really, just trying to say in the strongest possible way
talk to each other. work out attack plans before we die one by one
bashing ourselves to death against last years state champions defensive line.)

#2-99 talk to each other. i guess i never saw how important it was til
being jacked in form or slept etc.. boy does that bite.

whew i was right i am drained, time for a nap.

oh almost forgot i figured i'd get what people
thought of as 'poor' forms so i could learn how to
best make use of them. went defense since my first
shifter i figured that gave me better odds to live long enough
to learn something. but i got lion and porcupine.
so what kind of twisted freak would be dissapointed in those?
they were nice btw- but i favored the hare 'cause it was the
cutest. and well poky, put a healer behind 'im and let'er rip.
oh and for those who were with me when i ranked in form.
told ya i was too close .. got better at second attack.
2 practices instead of three and ended with 9 practices, yes 1
shy of a train. grrrr. but then again i knew i shouldn't have done
it.
not sure what i am going to donow, i have my kids more often lately
so i am on cf less. well less days when i play it still tends to be
kind of long runs. certain things just have to be done though.
I was just getting a handle on this whole lion/porc combo, guess i should have fled more often when i was younger, might have lived long enough to be scary.

I couldnt stop apologizing because I kept hitting myself on the head for that.. I had about 2 hours of sleep the previous night and had just woken up about 15 minutes before that happened. I just couldnt stay asleep but was insanely tired. Insomnia anyone? Anyway, I wasnt thinking straight and I apologize one last time for that. I dont know how "murder whoeveritwas" into "murder lio"... As much as you like the Fortress, try something else if you havent, the Fort has too many people right now. Good luck with whatever you choose.

What can I say? I'm just incredibly fast.
But in all seriousness, I was just heading to a certain place that shall remain nameless and saw where you were heading. I had qualms about attacking a shifter out of form in an OOC sense, but IC you were just an easy target.

I remember re-raiding Scion with you waaaay back as a paladin I played, and I liked you then, always did since then.

Good luck with your next.

I remember ranking up with you in our early days and begging you to join the Fort. Finally, you did!

As far as I'm concerned you were a maran at heart - always getting out into the field and taking the punishment. Good job!

Had a blast, I had intended this guy for fortress early
on.. but when you and i think a couple of other people
brought it up ic, seemed a good way to go with it.
being 'convinced' so to speak.
always a pleasure hanging out with your character from the

I had a lot of fun fighting by your side, and you always had the courage to dive in. You and I could have been pretty fierce with an archangel, and the porcupine. I only have two pieces of advice for you. Wands are worth it! Even if you can only use one, and the one is shield. Sometimes I go sans wands, but I have very specific reasons for it. If I was a shifter I would be wanded to the teeth just about every time. Second, I agree we should be talking to each other a HELL of a lot more. You can't work together if you don't know what's going on. (I know I missed some things you said right after you said it, but that's because I'm spacey heh). However there is some personal responsibility to be spoken for too. One of the times I thinking of I think scions were trying to retrieve, you ran out and died, and then said "someone could have told me what was going on.". Here's what I think about that. I was still conjuring, so I'm pretty busy to run down exactly what's going on. You should ALWAYS look before you leap. Look to see who is out there, if you don't think you can run it alone, wait for back up. I was ready as soon as you said "Dead.". So a few more seconds would have put someone else at your back. The last thing you should ever do is run straight to the entrance just because the tara'bal yelled. Look around, assess the situation, make your plan(with others preferably), and strike. It sounds like a lot, but it can definitely be done before the tara'bal dies.** Good luck on your next.

Jemar

**Some current examples of the tara'bal dying before a paladin can even cast sanctuary on themselves not withstanding.

member who was attacking? anyway there were many people in the fort.
i spoke to thenrek on it and one of the younger ones could have answered, and yes i was aware everyone who could harm them was getting read to defend, i even explained that in the note.
i assumed since no one was talking everyone was in a group, and ready to step out blasting. so when the maran yelled i went.
i can't count how many times the maran fell when i heard 'im yell
was standing IN the fort zapped myself changed and hasted, and he fell
pretty much as i struck i was one pace north. this particular time i was in the altar room, with those three .. yes i HAD to run down.
i was never concerned with death really, but that day was a low
point in depression, i was getting a note ready to ask to leave the fort. I was still going to help from outside (and do just as well
mind you as the best power in any cabal is cb and it wasn't being
effectively used)
on another end of things, i hear Shokai is looking over the guardians
thing, but if i was away from the fort, worded at an attack, raced to the maran, he'd be dead before i got there, if i stopped to zap myself
and in some cases even enliven haste, the watcher would be dead too
(if the attacking party was more than 2 heros.)
again that is just the way it is, no biggie, i had been miffed
about the whole not talking thing for quite some time before that.
and i understand all the defenders were busy, no problem, but
when i asked questions repeatedly, over 3-4 theran hours game time
and got nothing, well i thought, why am i even in this cabal?
but on the other hand i have so much fun with the fort people.
(I was so pissed ooc at thenrek for talking me out of it, but he was both passionate and logical, and i could not come up with a reason
for glil to not listen to him)
as for wands yes i had only a shield one for a bit and even it made
a huge difference. with ab&s i even scared myself.
mainly though since i had trouble finding them i stuck with
the one aura one that either i always got to first or few know
where it is. found the place by accident, and kept looking and looking and one day there it was. and i was like HAH i knew there had
to be something there.
anyway gf wants me to go play a graphical game with here talk to you another time in another form.

Geez I wish I could tell you the character i'm playing...you would laugh because I sure did when I saw that the player of Lerrik was Glilanthis. I should've figured with you running all over attacking everyone Lerrik style.
Anyways, knew Glilanthis with a couple characters and like Lerrik you were always fun to be with. 10 minutes of regearing and you were set. That's how I like to play so it was all good. Anyway good luck with everything and well done. Don't sweat the con death, that's the only way to go (screw all those wusses that flee when they're convulsing and their attacker is in perfect health)
Take care.

well guess i'll find out who you are when you're dead.
I SWEAR i was much more reserved than lerrik.
i fled a whole lot more often.
pocupine though needs to be in there being hit.
if i was behind someone, well all those spines are
just itchy skin covering.
well the regearing got real slow towards the end, not sure why
but it took forever to make even s single move.
w ... dum dee dum dum ... ahh i moved, w...
worked better if i spammed like 10-12 moves then five would go and about a four second pause then a few more. but it appears many people were having similar trouble.
but yeah till i was told, to grab wands it was always snow worm+a couple of odds and ends. I did at one poin try to gather a decent set
just to see what i would end up with hp wise. wasn't bad wasn't omg
wow, but that one took a long long time and a lot of help.

as for jumping into alot of fights well, duh, what is the point otherwise? if you play a peaceable guy, fine but then you really don't even have a reason to kill mobs right? if what drives you
is to 'slay evil' or whatever, then you should be trying right?
spend time coming up with reasons for your character to get into
pk battles and then don't? or spend all that time coming up with
reasons why you would stay out of pk and then go kill mobs?
posh.
on the gearing bit, well it is just plain boring to spend 80% of you
character's life gathering items, clothes or what-have you for
at most a 1 minute fight. yuk.
then again i spent 80% of my time wandering around going
where are those....(deleted according to the new P.C. rules )
well anyway i probably liked your character, liked all the others
alright. see ya next time around.
maybe at the other end of a hand clasp, maybe one of us standing over
the other's corpse.

Arthakar would have loved to give Glilanthis his final death, make no mistake about that. The idea had something ritualistic about it really, and was a very nice touch considering the beliefs of our respective characters. But with our playing times being as apart as they were, I suppose it just was not ment to be.

Arthakar

we had a short time of crossover it seemed, but that was it.
had i made it through the rot i was going to logg off for
the day, and then try to catch you next time around.
I learned a few things from you and isirith<sp>
with certain forms against each other.
this was a learning character for me and wasn't supposed to
accomplish much, but to find out alot.
so i am.. well very happy with the way it all went down.

hehe i was kinda tired when i wrote all that, didn't mean
to leave anyone in the fort out really, i just well
had to say my piece at the end there.

I never did get to see how that little trick we were
going to try would work. too bad, i'll have to some day
try it again with a different character.

hrm, someone who remembers my drow? and liked him?
always seemed to me the fort folk liked him better
than the empire anyway, so were you fortress back then?
nm don't tell me til you're dead, but don't forget!!!

well what can i say, i was getting worn out con wise
before i even got inducted, though this was the first
time i made it to hero with double digit con.
i cannot count the number of mob deaths i took though.
there was a day that for some reason i could not flee
anything at all, mobs, pk, nothing. it was just
pages of panic you could not escape. it stopped the next
day so i never posted it to the bug board, wasn't sure
how to approach it, i figured it was just a glitch.
blew it off and went on.
by then i had already learned what i wanted from the
character so the rest was just gravy.

There are only two shifter forms I dont bother fighting, croc and dillo(thats because it gets boring way before they get hurt). The rest of the forms have very little they can do against me. Good going playing a class I will never touch again in its current form. Good luck on the next

#27973, "Against you.. death or near death."
In response to Reply #21

Against other invokers, less of a chance of death.
but either way near death. running for my life.
I think the one time i got you convulsing it was because
you had already run through the maran, and a couple of
other fortress people AND i had abs.
that's just sick, but i figure invokers take a lot to
get where they end up so that seems okay.
now shifters i figure not many commands to remember
very little 'skill' involved, so it is right that they
are a notch down fighting wise. the things to focus on
would be i guess wands (which i am sick of trying to
gather so i probably won't play a mage again for a while)
and when to attack and when to flee, in a nutshell.
'course i will certainly play another shifter when i get
tired of talking. but that is a rare thing for me.
well catch you next time around.

The player and the character both liked Glil but as you said before later in life you got busy and we really never traveled again. Not really suprised that you went out already but I had a feeling through our various talks that you were not much to just sit around (and cabal life tends to do that as well). Good luck on anything you decide to do and I am sure that we will bump into one another in the future.

Well I dont know whether to take that as a compliment or a curse . I hate porcupines + a decent form that can hit you. I almost never carried a spear until I fought one which meant I lost the element of surprise. I figure if I cant stalk you I might aswell pose some sort of problem. Well done.

I'm really going to miss you, piggy. You were a squire before my character had ever even considered joining the Fort. We spent a LOT of time together, even before I joined, and a lot more after. I'm really going to miss you. Your death hit Celebrimbor very hard, and as soon as he found out ran out and initiated an assault on both Chasm and Palace.

As for the name, believe it or not I never read Tolkien. I tried once when I was in middle school, but he was just too long winded for my tastes. The name was from a random elf name generator I used when I decided to roll an elf paladin. I won't even TELL you what the last name was, but lets just say after I saw Return of the King, I realized why my lastname isn't showing up. Ugh.

hahaha. oh come on, you'd have struck if i died or not.
you were always that kind of fellow, good to provide
an emotional excuse for it though. glil would happy.
Cel is an awesome character in any case, once i got past
the name and actually paid attention to the character.
I LOVE you views on applying, how a maran should behave,
what you feel should be done about the neutral folk who
keep killing goodies, hrm, well perhaps i won't go into
more detail on things, but your whole idea of policy.
just great.
