Chapter 3

After days of wandering, begging for scraps, and
listening on street corners he learned the city was
Galadon. A city that intersected the common races
of all Thera, forming a community where differing
cultures could gather in a civilied manner. He kept
his hood drawn and goggles snug to ward off the
bright sun during the day. Within a week he had
a bag filled with discarded food scraps. He set off
to find his way back to upper Cragstone. After much
ado he found the svirfnebli city and his father alive,
albeit with a broken arm. Pebble Day had turned
into Pebble Week, a crucible that sparked the
adventurer within Colberbitz and a love for
Galadon and its many magic guilds.

Chapter 2

He wandered from the rubble.
He pushed through brambles, thorns, and tall trees to
find himself near a pond. Gibberlings burst from the the
leaves and sent him stumbling onto an open road. A
traveler saw his youth and brought him up and into his
wagon. He was dizzy and could not speak. Laying on
his back among bags of barley seed he fell asleep.

He sat up with a jerk. Remembering his father and the
others he looked around. He didnt know where he was.
There were voices all around, a market square. Tall
people and giants, beggers and dogs. He set out to
find his way back home.

Chapter 1

It was a day to celebrate. One day each year svirfnebli of
every guild would bring their children to work. This would
give them a sense of pride, belonging, and a sense of
purpose in upper Cragstone. Colberbitz was just a tiny
gnome when he joined is father in the tunnels. They were
mining near the surface so there was no thought of danger.
They lifted buckets, examined fissures, and spiked new
cart rail. Suddenly an earthquake sent svirfenbli running.
Carts lept off their tracks and the entire tunnel began to
vibrate into a deafening thunder.

Colberbitz woke on a pile of rubble. He was at the bottom
of a large pit. Sunlight shown down on him. His mining
goggles were askew. He slowly looked up into the sky
of the overside. A blue infinity with slow moving clouds.
A bluejay sang as it flew through the settling dust. Never
before had he seen such vast empty space.
