Chapter 2

As Cantareth journeyed deeper into Thera, he found himself pondering the nature
of free will and the power of the Storm. The raging winds and thundering skies
seemed to reflect the turmoil within him, and he wondered whether the Storm was
a manifestation of his own inner chaos.

His shapeshifter parents had instilled in him a radical philosophy, one that
rejected civilization and prized the primal and untamed. Cantareth had rebelled
against their teachings, but he couldn't help but feel that their ideas had
somehow seeped into his psyche, influencing his every decision.

And yet, as Cantareth looked out over the sprawling cities of civilization, he
felt a deep-seated anger and revulsion. He saw the people living their lives,
trapped in their routines and their rigid social structures, and he felt a
sense of pity for them. They were like caged animals, he thought, living out
their lives in a prison of their own making.

Cantareth joined the Outlanders of Thar-Eris, drawn to their philosophy of
rejecting civilization and embracing the wildness of nature. He found that the
Outlanders welcomed him with open arms though he was tasked with slaying a
defiler before advancing past his 35th rank.

As Cantareth spent more time with the tribe, he found himself becoming more and
more philosophical. He began to see the world in a different light, questioning
the very nature of existence and the concept of free will.

He wondered whether he was truly in control of his own destiny, or whether his
actions were predetermined by some higher power. Was he truly evil, he
wondered, or was he simply a product of his environment, shaped by the forces
of nature and the world around him?

But amidst these philosophical ponderings, Cantareth never forgot his love for
the Storm. He reveled in destruction, in the chaos and bloodshed that came with
it. He took great pleasure in the tearing of flesh and the screams of his
victims.

And when the Storm came, Cantareth felt a sense of euphoria that he couldn't
explain. The thundering skies and swirling winds seemed to speak to him,
calling him to join them in their dance of destruction. He felt alive, more
alive than he ever had before.

As he looked up at the night sky, Cantareth felt a sense of peace wash over
him. He knew that he was where he belonged, that he had found his true calling
in life. For Cantareth, there was no greater joy than the sound of bones
breaking, the smell of blood in the air, and the taste of victory on his lips.
And whether it was his free will or not, he would stop at nothing to see the
world burn, to see civilization reduced to nothing but piles of ash and bones,
all while dancing with the Storm.

Chapter 1

Cantareth does not think of himself as evil. He does what needs doing.

His shapeshifter parents were exiled from Thar-Acacia for their radical ideas
on how civilization was unnatural and that shapeshifting to beasts
permanently and joining Nature was the only way for final Enlightenment. To
commune with Thar-Eris herself.

So as Cantareth grew up in a hovel in the virgin forest he was taught these
ideals and eventually as he entered puberty he rebelled against them. Clearly
they had been standing around talking in the mists outside the mage city for
too long. We are the same as beasts, he argued, they are not better nor
closer. Besides it is selfish, he continued, to not liberate others from the
chains of civilization and into the embrace of the wild. Certainly many are
lost in their dependence of the abhorrent cities. For them the only solution
is to face the Storm, the destructive force of Nature. But it is for their
own good and the good of those that follow them.

So though he does what needs doing, he certainly revels in the destruction,
in the tearing flesh and the flames.

And leaving the hovel and turning to Thera he seeks to join the Outlanders of
Thar-Eris as a Reaver. Ready to burn and to tear.
