Chapter 6

Khronin had wandered near the black city of Udgaard and lived amongst
the One Hearts of the plains to its east. He learned more of Thar-Eris
and spoke with their chief about what it meant for him. He then decided
to seek out this refuge that his old mentor had spoken of in some detail.
One day wandering far from the well travelled roads he came upon a
tremendous tree and knew that he looked upon the Refuge. What had been
in his mind for many years came to the fore and he approached the huntress
to seek guidance in joining this band of outlanders. He was accepted by
the Harbinger and welcomed in the tree but found over many travels few or
no wardens amongst the branches.

Much time has passed and Khronin has been with the Refuge for some years.
He found this strange and unnatural that there so few wardens in the tree.
To him and the lore of the rocks meant that allowing evil into the tree was
a necessary but distasteful addition by the ancients. The imp was allowed
to tag along. However now, the tree was overseen by evil and the reavers
seem more intent on general bullying and murder than Thar-Eris return.
Yet Khronin's spirit is unfazed. He perserveres and dreams of better days.

Chapter 5

He has learned within the aegis of the warriors guild and he believes
he is yet an apprentince in many ways, learning the nuances and the
timing of the melee. He has chosen his favorite weapon to study in more
detail and comes alive within the art of the dance. He sometimes gets
lost in the movements and must focus in order not to lose himself in
the rhythm. There is so much he must learn. About himself, about his
weapons and about the Ancients.He still thinks of Mrahrie but it is a
muted ache and not so sharp and raw. Yet most of his thoughts are now
in the necessary labor of love which is his martial skills and he
spends most of his time in the practice and study combat.

Chapter 4

Khronin packed a light pack and carrying a light spear given to him by
the master hunter left the caves early in the morning seeking that which
he could not name to himself. Yet was love in the end. He travelled to
frightful city many miles north and was aghast at what he saw. He found
no sign of the fela he sought and despaired of seeing her again. After
many months in search he was accosted by a black duergar and asked if he
would fight for a thing called empire. He was disgusted by the thought
for he had heard of the evils of that group of blackguards. He went to
a guild hall to learn to be a warrior. Thoughts of Mrahrie ever in his
mind, he went out into the world.

Chapter 3

Khronin was not the same after that fateful day. He swore an oath to find
her, but was talked out of rash action by his mother. He then swore an
oath to go out into the world and see the evils that that entailed. He ran
alone afterwards, somber and mournful in appearance. Gradually the pain
and shame receded. Yet he had become stoic and rarely spoke. He spent
nearly all of his time in learning of the outside world from Ghranos, an
ancient Felar who had a solid command of the common tongue and had lived
many years in the outlands. From him Khronin learned the speech and much
of what it was like in these places called cities. When not holed up with
Ghranos he was learning weapon skills from the masters of the hunt, who
took pity on him and taught him what they could. One evening when he was
17 he spoke quietly with his mother and father, telling them what was on
his mind and that he would be leaving within the week to follow the road
north to see if he could find sign of Mrahrie. Perhaps even bring her
back. Niether parent liked this idea, but they knew their son and gave
only token resistance to the idea. His mind was made up and they knew
they would not be able to change it.

Chapter 2

They were inseparable in their wanderings over stone, through trees and
under ledge. He grew to love her joyous laugh and unbridled sense of wonder
at all that they saw and did. She was fearless and this entranced him as
they went on their adventures. One day they are felar dancing down a ledge,
showing off to each other, when suddenly rock gave way and she fell down
the slope. It was a long fall through rock scree and short shrubs growing
up the steep incline and he saw that she had rolled onto a road! They were
on the edge of the unknown lands, a place they were not supposed to be.
Short black dwarves no more than four and a half feet tall were coming
down the road and saw the young fela. She was badly hurt and was unable to
avoid them as they came at her, cuffed her and bound her up. Khronin could
only watch as she was bundled off in the wagons of the duergar. A sharp
squeaky roar echoed off the walls of the gorge emitted by Khronin in his
despair. But there was nothing he could do. The duergar glanced about but
could not tell where the sound had originated. They shrugged and went on
their way to the slave market in the black city to the north.

Chapter 1

Khronin was born upon moss in a cave in the mountains to the north. His
mother and father were hunters and gatherers amongst the mountain valleys.
He was born into a good life where there was plenty of food. That hunted
by spear, caught with hook and shot with arrows. And that,picked from the
bush, from the tree or from the ground and the wild grains that they
harvested from a shallow lake. The broad caves that were his home were
interlinked within the mountains flanks and were good shelter from storm
and snow, howling blizzards or all at the same time. Warm fires burned on
cold winter nights keeping the caves warm enough for all of the tribe
that called themselves the Eklekts Chamne in their own language or The
Chosen Lost. He was happy and content in his youth, playing amongst the
clifs and woodlands with friends and comrades. Learning to hunt and gather
with many play fights amongst his comrades.
