Chapter 6

A strong wind blows across the grassy fields. The sky is a brilliant blue,
shimmering with a soft gentle light. Winged humanoids fly through
the sky, and upon a tall rocky outcropping stands a female archon. She
looks across the plains, taking in the peace the holy land offers.

Another figure lands beside her, offering a friendly greeting. "Selerra,
does something occupy your mind today?" he questioned.

She continues staring ahead for a moment, then turns and replies
"Those mortals struggle everyday, some giving in and others standing
tall against darkness. The choices they make at times make no sense.
To think they would know peace and happiness if they would but
make the right choices."

"Well what can we expect from mortals? They do not have our grace
and wisdom, our strength, our power." the man replied, almost as if
in disgust talking about lower beings. "But come, lets not dally on
such creatures. The wind is warm and the day perfect for flying."

Selerra looked back across the field, her expression emotionless but
quickly changing to concern. "Look! There upon their realm, two
demons approach an abode of a sleeping mortal. She's in danger."

"Its not our place to step in, Selerra. Her fate is her own in this case."

Ignoring the man, she drew her flaming sword, and manifested a
portal. With a cry she lept through to fight the demons.

Chapter 5

Cold winds whisked around Kaloura, biting at exposed flesh and
sending shivers through her body. The long steps to the altar loomed
before her. She had decided. It was now time to make it clear. The
two of them both agreed and they would swear it to her goddess.

Though as Kaloura took each step, the girl's thoughts still lingered on
the archon's name. She often wondered what it could be. The archon
assured her that when the time was right, her name will be revealed,
but for now, for Kaloura's safety, for both of them, it was kept secret.
There is power in knowning a being's name, one that the archon did
not want Kaloura to suffer for until she was strong enough.

She smiled at the "Kitty", who despite the Golden Hosts claims,
always welcomed her, never being the fierce creature the goddess
claimed "Kitty" was. The winds whipped with more intensity and the
sounds of chimes filled the air.

Soon Kaloura found herself before the melted altar. As she stood
there studying it a moment, she noticed her breath forming with each
inhale. The tempeture here was even more cold, but it didn't seem to
bother her. Kaloura shook her head to focus.

She rested her mallet, head down as she used the shaft to kneel. She
closed her eyes (after all isn't that what she should do echoed in her
thoughts).

"My Lady Azorinne, we come to offer our Vow to you and to
ourselves. We swear to bring judgement to those who would used
foul magic and dark prayers to weave evil curses upon the innocent,
wheres our hammer shall bring righteous justice to the guilty, and our
warm embrace mercy to the innocent."

Chapter 4

Kaloura's father killed a witch, who cursed him, so that his child would
affected upon her 18th birthday. Time passed and when Kaloura
turned 18, her celebration was assaulted by a shadowy fiend that
enabled the curse to take place, casting Kaloura into a forever sleep.

Many many years passed, her family died and the lands were
abandoned and overrun with evil. An archon tracked down some
demons to the area and slew them. In the battle, the archon herself
was mortally wounded. Sensing life nearby, the archon found Kaloura
sleeping from the curse. The archon could not break the curse, but
was able to use her essence to weaken the curse and empower
Kaloura with her own strength. This granted Kaloura martial
knowledge as well as the power to call upon prayers and other
paladin like powers.

Kaloura not knowing what has happened, nor truly how she has her
abilities, has set out to find the Fortress of the Light and the person
known as Drissa.

**Drissa was a character who seems to be well know in CF, so I
selected that name to use knowing full well that character is gone. I
have zero relation to that character and just using her fame to further
a story.

Flaws
Ancestral Curse and Narcoplecy are selected to respresent her curse.

Azure-touched?

Faily evident in that she inherited the presence of the Archon that
weakned the curse to allow Kaloura to wake. This presence also
imbued her with basic knowledge of being a Paladin, and even
influences her to bring Justice to the wicked.

Goals

Find the Fortress of Light and Drissa (the later will instead in learning
of her passing and that much time has passed)

Join the Fortress of Light as a Squire, become a Maran.
Find the Goddess Azorinne and pledge herself to her.
Find a way to remove her curse.

Chapter 3

Years and years passed. Lord Gharian aged quickly, only knowing
sadness and despair. He had no other child and let his land slowly slip
into ruin. Though as he and his people aged, the sleeping girl Kaloura
did not. The curse seemed to have kept her youthful and alive.

Eventually Lord Gharian himself passed away, his lands fell into
darkness, bandits plaqued the people, and what men he commanded
abandoned post. His home became overgrown, and Kaloura forgotten.

More time passed, and outside the old home a fight waged. A divine
archon was battling demons that had escaped and the archon had
tracked them here. The battle was brutal and the demons slain, but
not without a dire injury being placed upon the archon. Her life slowly
slipping away, the archon sensed life nearby in the old, rotting home.

Entering she found a beautiful girl, asleep. The archon understood.
With her own light fading, the archon poured her essence into the
girl, weakening the curse, but not breaking it. As the archon faded
away, the girl slowly rose from her slumber to find herself in her
room, however rotted over time as it were.

Beside her bed she found a worn sword. Oddly she grabbed it and
found familiarty with it, though she never had any formal training in
such martial practice. A quick study of her home told her something
tragic had occurred. She remembered feeling pain and then she
remember what her father told her.

Chapter 2

The land was good and peaceful, mothers need not fear their children
stolen, and the people of Lord Gharian were happy. He was happy as
well as his wife bore him a beautiful daughter. He would name her Kaloura.

Time passed and Kaloura grew from infant to child to teenager. Her
years were perfect. She learned all sorts of things, from dancing, to
sewing, to all manner of things a gentle woman should know. She was
happy, very happy, and her father pleased. Yet fate had not forgotten
what was due, and as her eighteenth birth approached, Lord Gharian's
dreams reminded him of what was said.

The celebration of Kaloura's eighteenth was to be spectular. His only
child coming of age would be celebrated far and wide in his lands. The
people were happy as Kaloura was kind and she was loved. As the
celebration raged, day turned to night, and the night sky was dark as
the moon was in its new moon phase. Lord Gharian pulled his
daughter to the side as worry and fear began to grip his heart.

"Kaloura, my daughter, I need you to remember this."

"What are you talking about father?" the girl laughed.

"Listen to me, if something terrible should ever happen, promise me
you will find the Fortress of the Light and find their leader Drissa. She
will help. Do not forget that name."

"I won't father, but this is so strange." the girl replied.

And as if on queue, the winds howled and the lights grew dim.
Screams suddenly cried out in the banquet room as men and women
slowly collapsed. Lord Gharian rushed to the room, there to find a
shadowy figure of mist moving throughout the room, clawing at each
person that grew near.

"Father! What is that thing?!" Kaloura cried out and as though the
voice was known to the creature it turned his attention to her.

Lord Gharian drew his sword, attempting to stop the fiend, but was
knocked as aside with ease. The touch of the creature left him unable
to move and he could do not but watch in horror as the monster
grabbed his daughter. She shrieked in fear and the creature entered
her body. Kaloura fell to her knees, then slumped to the ground, unmoving.

"Kaloura!" the old knight cried out, finally shaking the spell that had
paralyzed him, he hurried to her side, cradling her in his arms. He
cried to the heavens to save her and in response, he felt her shallow
breath. She was not dead, barely.

They tried to wake her. Nothing. They consulted all sorts of healers
and priest, yet nothing could be done to wake her. It would seem a
the curse which was weaved so long ago was powerful and could not
easily be broken. Disrought the Lord put Kaloura to her bed and
assigned guards to watch over her till she could be woken.

Chapter 1

A set of ruins. Worn and broken, yet not empty. A group of men
charge into the periolous encampment as several orcs ready
themselves for the battle. The two sides clash as violence errupts,
battle cries and screams of pain echo thoughout the ruined halls as
light and darkness vy for victory.

One such man, a knight, leads a smaller group. Their goal, to find and
eliminate the witch controlling the orcs. This particular with had been
plaguing the land, snatching up children to steal their youth for
herself. Tonight, she would be stopped.

As enemy upon enemy fell to the small group, they pressed forward
to the inner sanctum of the witch. As the men burst through the doors
a horrific scene unfolded before them. Countless withered husk of
children littered the stone floor. Their faces twisted in agony and
fear, their bodies aged and dry. At the end of the room she stood,
beautiful, young, sensual, drapped in dark flowing robes the wtich
grinned with twisted pleasure.

A fierce battle of magic and steel waged, and as it wore on, the men
one by one fell to the dark magic of the witch, till but she and the
leader of the men, Lord Gharian, remained. The loss of his men
spurred the knight on, providing him with strength till at least the
witch lay dying at his feet.

Even as she took her last breaths, the witch cackled. "I curse you and
yours Lord Gharian. One day you will know the pain of seeing your
child gone before your eyes. Ten and eight shall pass the time, and
the moon shall be black as light fades from her eyes!"
