Graeterok the Master of Iron
Description<) (o) (> <) (oOo) (> <) (o) (> <) (oOo) (> <) (o) (> <) (oOo) (> <) (o) (>
Before you is, by human standards, one of the most comical creatures you've ever laid eyes on. His head, hands, and feet are grossly disproportional to the rest of his body. A large, bulbous nose and great big ears accentuate his large round eyes and big lips. His eyes are bleached-bone white and reflective on the surface. His large feet plod lazily along the ground, while his gargantuan hands relate almost as big as a giants. His skin is pale white, almost matching that of his eyes.
Yet, even as funny as this creature looks, you can see how he would survive well. His large feet guarantee sure-footedness in most active situations. The large head on his shoulders, seemingly hard as stone would be good for knee- butting an opponent. And his massive hands, every bit as strong as a giant's, provide an immensely tight grip on the hilt of his weapons. When not engaged in more pressing matters, the small creature seems to drag all of his belongings behind him in a large sack or bag. Another curiously empty sack also drags along beside him.
The last thing you notice before shaking your head and looking away is

RoleChapter 1 A Heraldric Mountain Added Tue Feb 3 00:49:16 2004 at level 37:Making his way back to the Inn, Graeterok decided to follow through with his plan to let all of Thera know the history of the Svirfnebli. He weaved the story of his people to Sastine, who nodded and smiled and jotted notes on parchment. During the story, the small spark that had lit in Graeterok's younger years burst into a burning passion. He began to realize how much he loved the history of his race, and thirsted for knowledge of other races.
After the story, he let the Inn know his interest in joining their rabble. If Graeterok could somehow become the pupil of Sastine, he knew his thirst might be somewhat quenched. He waded and waited through many grueling and unique interviews, awaiting the time where he could become a Herald.
As Graeterok sips some tea in front of the fireplace, his mind wanders off to less important things. Inwardly, he smiles as he thinks about the times to come.

RoleChapter 2 The Mountain Weeps Added Tue Feb 3 00:43:00 2004 at level 37:All through his adventures on the surface, Graeterok visited the Inn frequently. He became enough of a regular that he was vouched many times to visit the Lyceum as well, and retreated there to study the histories of the races which so fascinated him at the Inn. Yet, one thing that had bothered him was the lack of the history of the Svirfneblin people. When he had broached this subject with Sastine, she could offer little on the history of his own people.
Thinking long and hard, he excused himself to speak with the king of Blingdenstone, seeking permission to allow others to know the history of a much misunderstood race. The king, seeking the opportunity to let his people appear proud and great, told Graeterok to tell the bard only lies that would please the ears of simple Therans. However, Graeterok knew this to be wrong. Taking his respectful leave of the king, he went to see his mother, still chief priestess of the king. She had told him that sometimes mountains must stand on their own. To be really great, one must distinguish themselves from all others and go against the flow of society. With a sigh, Graeterok nodded and sought the king again. He let the king know of his intentions to reveal to the bard Sastine the true history of the Svirfnebli. The king was infuriated and demanded that Graeterok be taken away in chains. He was promptly held prisoner for a day until another audience was granted by the king. The king smiled cruelly as he nodded at Graeterok's mother. She uttered a few words, and Graeterok fell asleep. It should be noted here, however, that the king wanted all memories of the Svirfneblin history to be erased from Graeterok's mind, along with all knowledge of Blingdenstone and the like. However, the enforcer's mother, ever watching out for her son, cast a spell of forgetfulness on how to make his way back home.
Awakening in a field of rocks and brambles, Graeterok knew something was amiss. He tried to think of the events that had occurred, but his head was rather fuzzy. He thought about heading back to Blingdenstone, but alas, for some odd reason, he could remember the way back. He began to remember the cruel smile of his king and the sad nod of his mother and immediately recognized what must have happened. Alone and without a home, Graeterok sat down in the field and cried...

RoleChapter 3 Mount Graeterok Added Tue Feb 3 00:27:33 2004 at level 37:It would be a couple of years before Graeterok was able to become a master at the use of blunt, bludgeoning weapons. This only helped him more in the enforcement of the Law of the Stone. His pure brute force was welcomed within groups, who put up with his chattering so that he could smash to pieces their enemies.
During one expedition across the northern mountains, Graeterok looked upon the ranges with envy. Such beautiful mountains, built by time of stone, were the quintessence of strength, loyalty, steadfastness, and dedication to the stone. He had decided then and there that he would become a mountain. He would be the biggest mountain in Thera, such that if someone ever asked if they have heard of Mount Graeterok, even the smallest child could claim 'yes!'.

RoleChapter 4 Reflections on the Beginning Added Tue Feb 3 00:21:39 2004 at level 37:One night, while without good company at the Inn, Graeterok decided to look back upon his life and reflect on his many adventures. He was raised as any other of his race, deep within the Underdark in the city of Blingdenstone. As his mother was the chief priestess to the king, he was treated with relative respect and deference. Because of this, he led a rather charmed life for most of his youth.
As was typical in Svirfneblin society, one's job in life was not chosen, but rather determined at birth. Graeterok's profession was to grow up and become an enforcer of the Law of the Stone. However, while profession is pre- determined, rank and respect must be earned. Graeterok worked hard to prove himself a willing enforcer and loyal subject to the king. With his hard work and dedication, and on the urging of the king from his mother, he rose in rank fairly quickly and soon became the head enforcer for the king. The prestige of the position allowed him leeway to travel into the rest of the world to enforce the Law outside the city alone. Such privelege was rarely afforded to citizens of Blingdenstone: the freedom to enter and leave the city whenever they wanted. Graeterok made sure to make the most of this honor and traveled Thera far and wide to find offenders who destruction hurt the stone. In Darsylon, particular elven stonecutters hollowed out stone to the point of weakening the integrity of it. In Galadon, some made a business out of destroying whole mountains to make roads. By these few examples, it was within Graeterok's power to "smash them to bits".
Also during this time, Graeterok found his way to the Inn of the Eternal Star. Enjoying the fascinating atmosphere that brought together the races of Thera started to spark a fire within Graeterok. It would be years later before he realized how big a role the Inn would play in his life.
