Chapter 5

I know it is very early in my life to be thinking of my death, but many of my
guild have waited too long and passed of old age. Old age is a death that is
so revolting and disgraceful to the Necromancer guild, that it should never
happen to any at the pinnacle.

The possibilities and implications do linger in the back of my mind as to
what I will do when my time to act and follow a path of becoming arrives. I
know I will naturally seek out the lich that has aided others in the becoming
first. I have no interest in settling for a lesser becoming unless I am
forced to prevent my death. A lesser becoming would be the path of a mummy,
an easier transformation from the texts and legends I have researched say
about it. The last path and perhaps not even a choice for myself would be to
turn myself in to a Wight. I have read of how that form has no love for Order
or civilized behaviour, an unthinkable outcome at this point in my life. Yet
I wonder how far would I go to gain what I want? What will I do for the
creation of my lasting name? Yet I cannot say for sure that any of the
becoming will not change myself to the core. I shall not dwell on this matter
anymore till the correct time in my life.

For now I will grow as I need to both in the guild and the Spire, till I feel
I have to become more so that I am remembered in this land for all of time.

Chapter 4

My Studies have proceeded very much to my expectations, of how they would. I
grew as quickly as I wished to within the ranks of my guild, stopping from
time to time to work on each new spell. It was like being a young student all
over again, a new spell to use for my enjoyment on the prey I wished.

When the time came to practice raising a greater undead from within the many
graves over the lands, I knew my search had begun. I started close to home
and slowly spread out looking for the graves that would give me what the text
talked about when they spoke of unique and powerful variations of the greater
undeads. It did not take me long to locate four different graves that
presented me with a special corpse to work with. I am pleased with what I
found and will continue to find use for these undead pets as I create a name
for myself in Thera.

I feel soon it will be time to press on within the guild and reach the mortal
pinnacle of it. There are still a few magics that I will need to unlock and
study as I grow. After which I will be left with the decision all master of
my guild are faced with before the end.

Chapter 3

I have found myself alone in the Spire most of my life now as I have seen
allies come and go with the passing of time. Very few Magistrates take up
their watch at the same time as myself, this does not bother me so much as I
prefer to work on my own most of the time. However it also leaves a spot
light on me that sometimes I wish was not there, so that I may focus on other
matters.

I like most started off in Modan, a training city most call it. However for
me I did not stay there long, and was moved to that annoying city of
Voralian. I did not understand why a Necromancer like me would be placed
there instead of Hamsah, so I merely saw it as a test of my pledge to the
Tribunal. I had a few hardships while posted there as a result of a citys
healer that would not use their prayers on me. It was not that I did not know
this was the case; it is more that lack of respect for a tribunal in your
city, no matter what darkness touched their soul was disappointing. Something
I will have to take up and push to change when I am Provost of the Spire.

Yes my goal still remains to take control of the Spire for a time. I will
build up its members and strength as part of my lasting memory. A piece of
the art work that will be me, is going to be the loyal Magistrates that
follow me before I move on to another place or position. Sadly even with my
simple paper work written to impress the Provost on the known outlanders in
Thera, has not bought me the advancement I wished as of yet. My goal by
taking a simple task and making it seem like hard work and worthy of notice
was to get myself a Provincial posting. The reports on our main enemys
forces did convince the Provost to move me from Voralian to Galadon quickly,
which many see as the important single city Magistrate post. It may not be
the position that I should have by now, but Galadon has been good to me and I
do sense that soon I will have the ability to watch over all the cities and
the respect that comes with it.

Chapter 2

As I started out on my path to create a name for myself in Thera, I found
myself wondering how to do such. It was not long into my time out that forces
started tempting me with offers of where and what to do with myself. My use
of the dark magic seems to either attract or repel people, and who wants me
close by. I know very well that I am not the coldest or darkness of
Necromancers, I merely lack any emotion about other people. However will
that change over time? What if I join a force that doesnt fit with what I am
or am to become?
The first choice of course is to go on my own, have no obligations to anyone
and try to build something lasting from scratch. As convent as this may be in
so many ways, it also limits my ability to use people for my goals, that are
already along the same mind set. Lasting in the lands alone is not a simple
task.
The next choice that came across my nose is the Empire, the dread lady
promised much for the oath. I have seen this Cabal in action. They wish to
bring all of Thera under their order. I am having a hard time with the idea
of how does an Empire such as this last when your subjects are forced under
to follow them. I dont know much about the livings behaviours, but I do know
when you force someone to do something there will always be those that resist
and fight back. I almost see it as living tissue trying to spread within a
dead corpse, but maybe thats just me.
My last choice is the Spire, or Tribunal as they are known. The appeal of
them to me is that they are out to protect what is there, Order and law. I
could easily find myself in their ranks making a Society stronger and being
known for that. Why start from nothing? They have the basics there I can
merely add to it, strength it and create a name for myself in the higher
ranks. There of course is a downside to this path. Many of their ranks are
elfs and or paladins and will likely be an issue should I become too strong
in my guild or in the Spire.
My choice will be made soon.

Chapter 1

The rain hits hard on the houses roof, as you appear to stand in the entry
way to a kitchen looking in on a husband and his wife sitting at the table.
You are not sure how you got here or why the dark-elf couple have not noticed
you or chased you out, so you move closer. Suddenly a child comes running
down the hallway towards you from the front of the house. You know that you
cant dodge him, they are going to find you in their home and run you out if
not kill you. Just before you try to yell to tell them you dont know how
you got there, the kid runs right through you. You know this must be a memory
of the past.

You stand there and watch as the couple argue with each other and what
appears to be a dark figure hidden in the darkness of the corner. Its hard
to make out what they are saying at first, but slowly becomes clear. They
are fighting over their child.

As you continue to listen, you learn how the child was found to have a
natural ability to control the dead. It started with rodents and moved to
small animals. The third figure has offered the couple the chance for him to
take the child away from them and train him. Not so much and offer as a
statement of what is going to happen. He tells them that the child will not
be a slave, and he will also no longer be the weak and picked on dark-elf he
currently is. His power will grow with time and he will find his place in
Thera whatever he wants that to be. Knowing that they have very little
choice left with them, the parents must let him go, likely never to see him
again.

The air around you swirls around and settles again, revealing a scene years
later that than when you were in the house. The smell of death hangs in the
air, of the graveyard you now find yourself in. The child now a young adult,
is before you weaving his magic around in an exercise of practice. Moments
later the dark figure that took the child from his home, walks in and places
his hand on the dark-elfs shoulder. Listening closely to the conversation,
you hear the figure tell Akageaiad, it is time he ventures out and use his
magic to bring death to those that need it, to build a name for himself and
create the lasting impression on the world that he was meant to.
