#510, "[None] Mahar the Ranger King"
|
Mahar Donnath, the Ranger King
DescriptionMahar is a sturdily built human, with rough features a rugged look. Wide shoulders frame his neck and large, powerful arms carry his weapons and shield. He seems to not have shaved his facial hair for a few days, a shadow runs along his chin, cheeks and the square jawline framing his face. His physique shows savagery and brutality, a man who is used to his own way and with little or mercy. His eyes however, deep set and watchful betray his intelligence, patience and wisdom of the wild.

RoleChapter 3 MAHAR's BACKGROUND AND BELIEFS Added Wed Oct 29 22:48:07 2003 at level 42:his village than in his own home. Coming home every day and being between four walls was beginning to drive him mad, a bad case of claustrophobia gripped him each time he came home. With time it grew worse, every night was torture, a restless sleep filled with nightmares of walls closing in around him, the howl of The Great Beast in his heart, like distant thunder in the sky .
Eventually he left home, he went deep in the woods far from the rules and prejudices of the civilized world. At home he wasn't missed as he was becoming a shame to his family and friends, but his parents were too concerned with image to kick him out of his birth home.
As he roamed the woods he was happy and free. The savagery of the wilds took deep roots in him, its purity and clarity of vision gave him strength and purpose. The call of the savage instinct of The Wild Beast in him and his human intelligence was a lethal combination. His moral compass and decisions were not guided by the hearts of men, or how they seemed to him, but by his instinct. The Beast in him knew what was true, its vision was never fogged and its heart always beat true. As he got older he learned that deceiving was a way of life, but what matters it to remain true to oneself. Making something or someone believe things that are not true, either with regard to himself or the world in general. In the hunt, it was all about deceit, about nobody knowing the truth, except the hunter. Animals deceived their prey to make the kill, deception was in nature's blood and now his own. To him, nature was about deceit, about misguiding your prey into a trap and timing, when he could get them close to his savage and uncommon brutality. Sometimes, to the weak and lost travelers he was capable of uncommon kindness and compassion, but with the strong or the brave he could be capable of unspeakable cruelty. Mahars prey, with its last breath would know Truth, reality as it is, death is near and now inevitable, thats where the deception would end.
In his beliefs, a man who always tells the truth is an idiot and will eventually lead himself to total disaster. Always telling the truth means failing to see it, and failing to see truth was a death sentence. As long as one stays true to himself, his eyes will remain open, to uncover and see past deception was to be deception, to see it before it clouds ones mind.
What he hated the most in others was cowardice, fear and those like him. He found this to be most common among lightwalkers. Their highly held morals were a veil pulled over the eyes of the world, but not his eyes. In those of the dark he found the same, only far more obvious. Those were also just as deceptive and treacherous as he was, to him this was a threat because they did not trust him and they were hard to deceive. He realized that through deception he was purifying himself, keeping all others blind while he alone would know true reality.
To Mahar, nothing is what it seems, the masks of men hold no secrets from him. Play with your prey as the moonlight dances on a lake and the shadows of the forests deceive your eyes. Nothing mattered but survival, trust none except yourself and the way of The Great Beast.
