|
Lariya the Ironhearted Bane of the Damned, Talon of the Phoenix
DescriptionThe woman standing before you looks like she could be elven royalty, yet her armor speaks otherwise of her profession. It almost looks comical, the equipment she wears seems to hang loosely from her, as if made for someone more broad in stature. Her frame and build show quite a bit of age. Her skin doesn't have the soft glean that a younger elven girl might have, and her hair has turned to silver. Her eyes are aged, perhaps moving a bit slower than in her younger days, but they still seem as vigilant as ever. She wears little jewelry or any other such things one would expect to see on an elven woman, only equipment more fitting a combatant. She does wear a necklace with a phoenix clutching a crescent moon on it, and there is a similar marking on the back of her left hand. While the contrast between her aged, yet delicate elven features and the rough, oversized armor she wears is comical, her motions still show that her abilities are well honed.

I happened to have a log with her whole history in it, here is the part from the pre-PBF days.
HISTORY FOR Lariya Added on Sat May 31 01:25:54 2003 by 'Shokai' at level 10 (8 hrs): like this one alot, defined evil as 'taking the easy path'....mostly a note to self
Added on Mon Jun 30 01:59:25 2003 by 'Shokai' at level 32 (38 hrs): watched her roleplay the recieving of temperance quite nicely
Added on Tue Jul 8 01:50:28 2003 by 'Shokai' at level 40 (70 hrs): I've dug everything I've seen out of this paladin, did very well talking to Vansia about 'strength'
Added on Mon Oct 27 17:37:14 2003 by 'Vynmylak' at level 51 (385 hrs): This character continues to impress the hell outta me
Added on Thu Dec 4 16:08:45 2003 by 'Rogardian' at level 51 (462 hrs): She recovered the Orb by herself from three Imperial heros - a duergar, thief and necromancer (spectre). Killed the necro, made the others run away. Very, very impressive. The warrior had shawtabies too.
Added on Thu Dec 4 16:09:34 2003 by 'Rogardian' at level 51 (462 hrs): Oh, and all three of them were in the Palace when she began, so she didn't have any free time with the Vanquisher first.

#4251, "Lariya's Role Chapter 1"
|
RoleChapter 1 Previous role Added Tue May 27 03:48:23 2003 at level 10:Her mentor, Lanyar, saw this. Even though her initial reasons were surface, selfish, and vain...he saw something in her heart. Lariya's mind was an absolute mess of thoughts, yet something in her heart managed to pulse hard enough to shine through that mess. Lariya, of course, couldn't see it, but Lanyar could. He did all he could to teach her. She was a bit disappointed most of her initial training involved philosophical discussions on the Light rather than actual combat training. While it did help clear the clutter in her mind, Lariya still was learning how to listen to her heart, rather than letting her head muddle things up.
She decided to seek the Phoenix, once again more for deluded reasons. She once again picked it because in her eyes, it would be the harder path to follow. Lanyar gave her his blessings, once again seeing her heart shining through, and that while in her head, the reasons may be flawed, the truth was strong in her heart, and that while she may not know it yet, the path of a Maran burns strong in her.
Lariya herself is fiery, quick witted, and often times finding herself putting her foot in her mouth. She means no harm by it, but at times she'll speak right whats on her mind without thinking first. It is something she says she works on, but in truth only half-heartedly since it is a very ingrained part of her.

RoleChapter 2 Previous role Added Tue May 27 03:47:46 2003 at level 10:Lariya...the name doesn't exactly have the ring of a fierce warrior. It seems more fitting on an elven royal. In fact, that life may have been more fitting for Lariya, but what was in her heart burned for something completely different.
Lariya's childhood was typical for most elves. A carefree life running and playing with her friends. Her family was well to do, and she had the look of the princess herself. Her parents saw it, but Lariya herself did not and could care less. This had it's consequences of course. As she got older many of the men in the town did what they could to pursue and court her. Unlike many of the other young elven women, Lariya could care less about men, courting, and many of the other traditions for women of her young age. She still wanted adventures like she had during her childhood.
As many men do when they fancy a woman, they all began to bring Lariya gifts, and do what they could to make things easier on her. They would open doors for her, do what they could to shield her from anything that might seem remotely unpleasent. She paid little attention to it at first, but as it grew on, it began to irritate her. She didn't need anyone to open a door for her, she was perfectly capable of doing it on her own. She didn't need anyone to bring her gifts, she could get them herself. She was strong, wasn't she? What made her temper flare even more was the other women seemed perfectly happy to accept all the gifts and the lavish attention the men would shower upon them. She *knew* they all could do these things, but they were perfectly content to let everyone fall over their heels for them while they sat back and did nothing but giggle and titter, and maybe, just maybe, give one a slight peck on the cheek for all their efforts.
Not Lariya, oh no, she was going to prove to everyone she didn't need that. Why, she was going to start on the hardest path she could think of, she was going to become a paladin. Yep, she was going to become a paladin to prove to everyone she was strong, and didn't need anyone to do anything for her. Not exactly the best reasons to become a paladin, but...perhaps there was something in her heart she hadn't learned to listen to yet that guided her there for more true reasons...
