Chapter 7

Lornael Arnalathalis had long ago chosen to seek out what he believed to be his true ancestry, namely
to live within, with and in harmony with the world around him. He hadn't met any resistance from his
parents as he set out, in fact they had encouraged him from young years to seek the world around and
it's many nooks and crannies. Eventually, he came to settle within what the men called the Emerald
Forest and many of his brightest days and night to date are fond memories from within these woods.
There were darker days as well, but these often paled in his mind compared to the many joys he had
already experienced. Still being young and what his elders called naive (something he never got to hear
from their lips) he was content within the woods and very seldom left it as there was no reason for him
to, he had found an in his eyes perfect place to live.
He often found himself meditating somewhere in the wilderness he now called home, be it on a branch in a
majestic tree or by a small stream gently flowing through the forest, and always there was something in
the back of his mind, something beckoning for him. Over the years this voice only became stronger and
stronger though thankfully for the young elf's sanity, not unclearer as it grew in power - on the contrary.
As it is, he is seeking to learn more of this beckoning, if it is but a figment of his imagination or
something bigger he hasn't heard of or experienced yet. He knew the deep woods held mysterious things...
was this one of them reaching out to him?

Chapter 6

Hmm... the gnome might've given him more than he could have hoped for. This... Mother, or Amaranthe
seemed too closely linked to the images he had been shown by the voice. Always the outcome of the images
was the same, only the ways of them changed. The woods or plains or mountains, always they wilted away
and always they stood proudly once more as if reborn. Though as the gnome had said, the change was not
only inevitable, but necessary. After a long while, he knew that he would have to seek the Mother out
and seek answers from her. For he did not know where else to turn.

Lornael had seldom seen himself a priest, yet those few he had met who traveled through the woods where
he lived were often left with an impression telling otherwise. He loved telling stories and more often than
not they were of the wilderness he had come to cherish so much. A song of the twinkling stars, an entangling
whispering of how the wind rustled through the leaves during the fiery autumn...
Never did he seem to get through to them though, they always returned to their stony haunts within the
city walls but at least some returned to hear his stories from time to time and share a meal under the stars.

Chapter 5

Such... insolence. The meddling duergar and blasphemous necromancer had stood before me and laughed at me.
They whom seek nothing but to disrupt the flow of the cycles with their meddling in seeking out the dead
spirits and shackling them to an existence of torment or with the tunnel borings of the duergar drilling
their way through the very heart of Thera. One day... one day they will have to learn the error of their ways,
one way or another or all hope will be lost.

It wasn't the first time Lornael had ran into ignorance, but this was the first time he had been scorned and
ridiculed for standing up for his beloved homeland and it hurt him to no end. The worst part was almost the
gnome whom had just stood by and joined them in their mocking of the wood-elf. It took him a sleep-less night
staring at the start to begin to come to terms with what had been hurled at him and only now did he see that
he needed the aid of the Mother or he would never be able to pull through. His resolve strengthened somewhat,
he set out to spend some time in the groves of his home and see to the small seeds he had planted those many
summers ago.

Chapter 4

Lornael was still torn within, but his resolve to one day find the Mother kept him going for as he had told
himself many times over, he had nowhere else to turn. He had met a few of those blessed by the goddess now
and from them in turn tales of Her and her teachings. It was a way of life that in many ways resembled what
he had already conformed to when he moved from home but yet different in some aspects. Before the strange
visits in his mind he had never thought much about life, it merely flowed around him and brought him along
on the ride. Though as he listened to those who had been blessed by Her, he began to see that there was so
much more behind everything that he had taken for granted. It both intrigued and frightened him but he was
not about to shy away, for this was about his place in the cycle and whatever that held in store for him.

Chapter 3

At last... he was not abandoned. The wood-elf moved with a renewed spring in his steps as he trudged down
the path into the heart of his wild-lands. He settled down beside that secluded pond he had visited so many
times and sank himself deep into meditation. For once, there wasn't a troubled frown crossing his face as
he sat there for a good two hours and when he opened his eyes again he smiled.
"Blessed be you, Mother... you have given me a gift greater than I could hope for, I shan't disappoint you."
he whispered before rising again and collecting his things. Casting the pool another glance he then turned
his steps back towards the woods humming a wordless tune to himself.

Chapter 2

It seems odd... but the gnomes do raise some interesting points from time to time. This one told me of the
Ancients and that.. the Goddess is one of them. I admit I was not aware of this but now that I think of it
it makes an eerie kind of sense. She has existed through the milennia, guiding the peoples to live in harmony
with Thera. Though now the peoples save a select few have abandoned her in favor of their own petty greed
and illusions of controlling Thera. So far, they have but touched her flesh, but one day they might reach the
heart and that can not be allowed. I need to learn more, perhaps these... outlanders can tell me what I need
to know. We shall see.

Chapter 1

He was growing now, both in confidence and power. He had been accepted as a fighter for the ancients, now
serving them among the others in the Refuge to restore the world of past days. Even though he had not seen
this world for himself he knew much from his years in solitude in the Emerald woods, a home he still loved
and returned to when he could. Through the years, he had come across several individuals who seemed in
learning more of the old ways and listened close to his words. Yet even as they listened, they still would
seldom heed them and it always brought a sigh to the wood-elf's lips but he had come too far now to give up.

He was not bitter though, for the mere thought of the trust he had received from the Mother and the spirits
always sent a sense of joy through his body, spurring him on. Granted, his life had taken a turn he had not
expected all those years back, but with every summer that passed he grew increasingly certain that he wouldn't
have wanted it to fall out in any other way. Who knew, perhaps he would be reborn as a sapling in his old
home, free to merely keep watch over the wilderness and sway in the breeze...
