Audriel Tyr'Elendria the Blessed Hand of the Light
DescriptionYou see a radiant elven woman who stands roughly five feet, four inches tall. A soft glow emanates from her armor, which is comprised of finely crafted mithril chainmail. She has long, thick, dirt-blonde hair that is elaborately braided and kept away from her visage. Her features are sharp, yet perfectly balanced: she has large green eyes, a small nose and mouth, and straight teeth. Her eyes are decorated with light blue shadow, and her lips are colored with pink dye of some sort. Her physique is athletic, if a bit slender.

RoleChapter 18 Chapter 6 - Shield Mastery and Pledge to Protect Added Tue Mar 23 16:53:47 2004 at level 27:Dear Aria,
Sorry I have not written sooner, but I required much rest this past elven week, following some depression. There is so much to tell you that I do not know where to begin.
One setback that has bothered me was my failure to protect the life of an arial warrior named Khurr, who died under my care. It is my duty to protect others, and I cannot live with myself if others fall under my supervision. In his case, an evil guard had attacked him and my ability to rescue was not enough. I failed him and became very depressed.Since then, we have become good friends and he has grown strong under my protection. In all other cases, I have fallen before my groupmates and it is most rewarding to know that their lives were shielded from harm.
Hope was rekindled when I was granted further combat insights. At my 22nd mark, I learned Shield Mastery after sparring with Cereril, an elven kinsmen who also follows the ways of the Kara Chal. The power of protection and healing was most useful in allowing us to spar successfully, without harming others.
Lady Sabiene eagerly waits for me to rise to my potential, and I hope I do not disappoint her. She had faith in my abilities long before I did. Though I sometimes doubt myself, I have single-handedly fought back evil assailants who were stronger than me. She is very calm and encouraging, especially with regards to my combat abilities. Her words comfort me and allow me to continue in the face of overwhelming evil.
As yet, I have only fallen to a duergar thief named Destrofen, and an evil ranger named Surin both of whom are more experienced than myself and hide well. I will consult with Lady Sabiene on how to shield others from that which I cannot see.
Not long after, I applied to the Fortress and spoke with the Elder Acolyte Vahletharian. He seems very eager to enlist my services, though urgent matters forced us to cut the interview short until another time. I hope to join the Fortress soon and cannot wait.
I hope to hear from you soon.

RoleChapter 19 Chapter 5 - Empowered by Peace, Protection, and Healing Added Tue Mar 23 14:30:55 2004 at level 27:Dear Aria,
I was empowered by a peaceful spirit of the Kara Chal, which teaches the importance of Peace, Healing, and Protection. I am to promote the faith under the divine guidance of Lady Sabiene. The warmth that Sabiene and the Spirit showed me rekindled my hope for the future of Thera. I am to train a bit before consulting further with her on my spiritual quest to protect others.
My next goal is to join the Acolytes of the Golden Sun, where I will be a shield of the Light. There is so much happening right now that my hand shakes as I write this.I hope to hear back from you soon.
I hope your lessons in elven poetry and the common tongue are going well. I know they are very difficult. Do not be afraid to write to me, for it is the only way for you to get better!
Namaarie,
Audriel

RoleChapter 20 Chapter 4 - Ki-Rin, Kara Chal, and Cooshee Dolls Added Wed Mar 10 15:10:39 2004 at level 9:Letter to her sister Aria:
Dear Aria
I am very excited to tell you that I have been embraced by a wonderful community of Lightwalkers. They have greeted me warmly and offered me equipment and other necessaries to help with my quest. I spoke with Vahletherien, an Acolyte who was delighted to hear of my intent to join the Fortress.
I also felt a stronger divine presence watching over me than previously. It was as though my spiritual role in this world was met with approval, though I cannot explain exactly why. After all, I know of no Lords who hold sway over the sphere of Protection. I continue to pray from places of quiet sanctity, as well as the chapel of St. Sebastian - a bastion of holiness that is in need of restoration and protection.
All the same, my comrades in arms support my spiritual role the holy community. I was greeted by two paladins - Alarian and Daemar, who said that the sphere of protection has been followed by more than a few Paladins, and invited me to adopt their views.
I was surprised to see how similar their philosophies are to mine. Like the Ki-Rin, I have much pride in myself, and adhere to an orderly lifestyle that is directed at a single purpose. I am very suspicious of disorganized, chaotic thinkers. Similar to the metaphoric hand of Kara Chal, I use the shield to both protect (open hand) and to strike (closed hand).I would be honoured to join the followers of Kara Chal or Ki-Rin in serving the Light.
Did you like your Cooshee doll that Verv made for you? I hope you are doing well in your poetry lessons. Send word to mother and father that I am well.
Namaarie,
Audriel

RoleChapter 21 Chapter 3 - Prayers, Dolls, and Saint Sebastian Added Mon Mar 8 17:24:26 2004 at level 8:Audriel has left a note, as well as a personalized doll (thanks to Verv) for her sister Aria back home in Darsylon:
My Dear Sister Aria,
Thank you so much for preparing lembas bread for me. I am sorry I left the basket in your room. Thankfully, the heavens have seen to it that I do not starve and I was able to make my own.
Speaking of the heavens, I have been praying to the forces of Light and feel that I may soon be ready. I have offered prayer from mountain tops, secluded groves, and an old chapel built in memory of St. Sebastian. For symbolic reasons, I feel strangely connected to it. I see that in spite of the wearing of time, the chapel is protected, maintained, and restored from time to time. Just south of the chapel, I felt a divine presence guide me to new experiences. It was a wonderful feeling that is impossible to describe in words. Thus, I have no doubt that the heavens smile upon me and await my service in due time.
I have met many people here so far. I spoke with two outlanders I even met an orc named Hordge that considered undertaking the path of redemption with me. The Spire is polluted by evil, and a fallen paladin named Lochzan leads them. There is much work for me to do, and I pray that I may be ready soon enough to answer the call of righteousness.
I hope you also enjoy the cooshee doll I left for you with Telaryllana in my Guildhall. She should have given it to you along with this missive. A wonderful fela named Verv made it for you, and even personalized it in your name. The inn is a wonderful place for me to meet friends and teach the ways of Goodness.
May I please ask you not to get fathers shield dirty? Also, do not rearrange my things. If you must use my blush, it is in the drawer. Do not put too much on, as you are already very beautiful.

RoleChapter 22 Chapter 2 - Proud Parents Added Mon Mar 8 05:09:22 2004 at level 7:A note from her mother, written in elven script was left in Audriels guild in Darsylon:
Audriel A'maelamin:
Your father and I are deeply proud of you, for you are the first in our House to choose this path. For this very same reason, my heart constantly worries about the future. We have little to offer you in the way of guidance, other than to tell you that we love you. I know that many lives will be saved by your shield, no matter what happens.
Remember also to follow your heart and do not waver from your commitment. The war against evil is never ending. Continue preparing your mind, body, and soul for the call of righteousness.Pray from places of purity and divinity. Do not doubt yourself, for the Heavens will answer when you are ready.
Back home, you left the basket of lembas bread that Aria prepared for you in her chamber when you borrowed her hair brush. She knows how much you like lembas bread, and I hope you apologise to her. She wants to be like you when she is older and is into all of your things.
Tomorrow, we head to the mountains near Udgaard. I hope to write you from there. Write back from time to time, and leave messages in your guild in Darsylon. Aria will take care of all correspondence.

RoleChapter 23 Chapter 1 - Background and Overview Added Sun Mar 7 04:33:39 2004 at level 1:Audriel was born in Darsylon Palace under the humble family name TyrElendria. Her father, Ethrindal TyrElendria, had great skill in crafting weaponry and was both a soldier and quartermaster in the service of Darsylon. Audriels mother, Vanya TyrElendria was a gifted wood-elven writer, poet, and singer from Eryn Galen. Her education and upbringing has made her familiar with high elf, wood-elf, and drow elf culture.
In an effort to better the world, it is customary for elves of House TyrElendria to embark on spiritual quests throughout their lives. Audriels quest is to offer her service to the cause of Light. During this time, her parents have undertaken a pilgrimage across Thera and beyond, and write to her from time to time. She hopes to be reunited with them in life or death when her spiritual quest in Thera is compete.
In her early childhood, Audriel spent much time with her father. He would often let her sit on his shield to watch him during combat training. When she asked if he feared death, Ethrindal told Audriel that his shield was blessed with her memory, forever protecting him from all harm. Since then, she has had a spiritual connection to shields -- the artistry and craftsmanship inherent in their creation, their symbolism, and their selfless dedication to the shield bearer. When she was strong enough, her father taught her the art of sword-and-shield fighting. She has also adopted her fathers arrogance and discipline.
Audriel also inherited her mothers wood-elven grace and gentility. She prefers natural healing and protection over the inherently destructive practice of war. True to her mothers heritage, she has a profound respect and appreciation for Nature and Beauty, which Vanya instilled within her at an early age. Vanyas softer, refined qualities have tempered Audriels fighting philosophy considerably. She shows mercy wherever possible before unleashing her lords wrath and fury.

RoleChapter 7 Chapter 17 - Loss and Gain of a Sister Added Wed May 19 15:18:19 2004 at level 51:Dear Aria
Folorad and Linwe came to me to pay their respects to sister Abbe. Folorad offered 100 gold in Abbes memory, to be disposed of as Abbe would have seen fit. Knowing Abbe to be charitable, I gifted the coins to Kak, a thief. I did so in recognition of his invaluable aid to the Fort.
Linwe, one of our elven squires, held Abbe in her arms during her final breaths of life and revealed some touching news to me. It turns out that in her final moments, Abbe asked that I look after Linwe, and she after me. Moreover, Linwe has lived without a House, and asked if she could be a part of ours. I was more than happy to accept Linwe into our home, and hope that you will one day meet her. It will be the decision of Lord Arvam as to whether this bond of sisterhood should be formalized, though Linwe has always looked up to me since her childhood.

RoleChapter 15 Chapter 9 - Day in the Life of an Acolyte Added Fri Apr 16 02:13:20 2004 at level 38:Dear Aria,
It is a great pleasure to serve within the Order of the Acolytes. My days are quite busy. Most of the time I interview applicants for Cardinal Thalric and Vahletharien, our Prophet. I even sat with Thalric and helped interview an assassin, who we proudly accepted into the Order. I often help retrieve our orb, and defend the Fortress against attackers. The angels wing maneuver is truly remarkable. I shall have to show you some time.
I also have persuaded others to join the Kara Chal: Anisron, Polelt, and Abbe, one of the Heralds of the Eternal Star.
I continue to look after Amayara and aid others as I can. I have taken Amayara to the shrines of Lord Vynmylak and Lord Arvam in an effort to help. I have made friends with Medellia, an elven invoker, who does much research on the planes. I protect and guide her and others through the Underdark, where we have uncovered a strange laboratory. And remember the city of Teth Azeleth in your reading? I have actually visited it. It is remarkable, but full of evil.
I must go for now, but I hope to hear from you soon.

RoleChapter 14 A Mother's Worry Added Tue Apr 20 02:22:34 2004 at level 40:Dear Aria,
I can appreciate what mother has done for us, because it feels that I am a mother as well.
I have been leading many groups, guiding and protecting them from harm along the way. I look after Amayara constantly, continuing to guide her along the path of righteousness. I was quite touched when she told me she loved me.
I also aid an elven mage named Medellia with her studies by showing her new places and defending her from hostile creatures. Even at the 39th rank I protected her from two cavefishers at once in the Underdark. I also led a large group through the mists of Thar Acacia as well as Shadar Logoth, which was very exciting. My closest friends are Abbe, Medellia, and Amayara.
I often travel with a very stalwart Paladin named Celebrimbor, though he needs to learn to be more sensitive. He is very destructive against evil or those who stand in the way of the light. He could probably teach our Squires a thing or two, though I doubt he holds out much hope of redemption in others.I often have to make sure he has flight potions, enough spare coin, and roots of enlargement, as he cares little for preparing himself. I feel it has cost him his life on several occasions.
I am very impressed with our newest Acolyte scribes Elerosse and Dicierki, whom Cardinal Thalric and I interviewed. Both have stout hearts and have pressed on in the war against evil against overwhelming odds. I have managed to survive quite well, now that my shield skills have been perfected. Without numbers, or someone to tie my hands down, many foes have difficulty getting through my shield. The Kara Chal keeps me protected from harm, and allows me to aid others.

RoleChapter 13 Chapter 11 - The Outward Palm, Fist, and Atonement for Amayara Added Fri Apr 30 11:02:27 2004 at level 47:Dear Aria
As instructed by Lord Shokai, I have taken Amayara for almost daily prayer to the Lords of Light. Her dedication has paid off, as Lord Vynmylak finally spoke to her. Amayara revealed to me that when she was younger, she slew elves. She must now atone for these past deeds if she is to be set upon the path of righteousness. I spoke with a few of the Fortress - Cardinal Thalric, Marshall Lariya, and Squire Linwe - and we all agreed that a change in lifestyle would be necessary. This change would include humble acts of penitence and prayer, public swearing of loyalty to the Light, forbearance of all evil conjurations, and aiding the Fortress. While she cannot undo what has been done, we of the Acolytes always hold out hope for others. I will speak with Lord Vynmylak on how she can reconcile her past with the present.
I am also very pleased with Abbe and her desire to be a part of the Kara Chal. Together, we slew Laes, the Imperial Shadow Lord.Normally he is very elusive, but perhaps patience is truly a virtue. Because we knew he was near, he failed in his attempt to assassinate me and was brought down by a torrent of heavenly wrath, fire, and ice. The Hand of Kara Chal guided us both in this case. We waited for Laes with our Palms outward to thwart his attack, before bringing the Fist of Kara Chal to bear.
In addition, the power of words is strong. I negotiated a peaceful resolution between Graedelus and Thent, the Kingpin of Galadon. The Kingpin had relieved the mage of his staff of striking, and conflict was imminent. I stepped in front of Graedelus and called for a peaceful return of his staff. Both walked away unscathed.

RoleChapter 12 Chapter 12 - Village Vexation Added Thu May 6 16:25:37 2004 at level 51:Dear Aria
I find the obsessive violence of Battleragers particularly troublesome. While I can appreciate the nature of their faith, I do not approve of their reckless use of force. Additionally, the relationship between the Fortress and Village is made tense on account of the tainted warriors that the latter often recruits. The tension between the Acolytes and the Village came to a head when I confronted Commander Jinroh about his assaults on citizens of Galadon.
Earlier today Traba had requested my immediate aid against the duergar commander. I spoke at great length with the commander in an effort to dissuade him from violence. The twisted duergar had the nerve to call me a defender of evil, and threatened that if I interfered he would kill me and cause more destruction than I could imagine. This threat only made my faith stronger.
While I considered merely healing Traba, my healing power is weak in comparison to the harm that Jinroh is capable of. The immediacy of the situation prompted me to strike at Jinroh with heavenly wrath, and the duergar fled to the sewers beneath Galadon. I did not give chase, offering him peace. He would have none of it.
The humans say that the Truth always hurts. In this case, it can kill. The evil commander insisted that I remind Traba of my attack without having been deputized. While I find the duergars manipulation of the very laws he breaks to be beyond reproach, I would expect no less from a fallen dwarf. I will not be untrue through action or inaction and must set an example for others.Reluctantly, Traba issued a warrant for my arrest and I turned myself in to the Spire.
I do not wish to see anyone harmed, including Jinroh. I have made it repeatedly clear to Jinroh and his dark-elf comrade Iborenn that if my aid is summoned against their ruthless attacks, I will answer that call. I have enough faith in my comrades to know that they support me, for we stand as one against evil. Jinroh believes my death in this case to be the result of dishonor. I do not think so. My death was a duty and honor, and I will continue to offer Jinroh forgiveness and mercy until my frail body can breathe no more.

RoleChapter 11 Chapter 13 - The Virtue of Hope Added Sat May 8 12:54:03 2004 at level 51:Dear Aria,
I have wonderful news. There is hope for Amayara, yet.
Lord Vynmylak appeared before an audience that included myself, Squire Celebrimbor, Scribe Abbe, and Amayara. He said that she needed further education on what the Light is, and what it means to be a part of the Light. It appeared that she was unable to explain the concept to his satisfaction, and he disappeared. While she was crushed by his seemingly harsh behaviour, it was a very promising gesture. After all, he is the Lord of Honor, Rage, and War who guides the Marans.
Indeed, no sooner had he left than Lord Vynmylak imbued me with additional power to protect and inspire others.
As my duties require, I assembled a gathering at the Inn to help enlighten Amayara and find the words. It was touching to see the circle of friends that we of the light often enjoy. Althueras the elven warrior, Elieszne the elven sorceress, Xalli the healer of the Coven, Scribe Lekerjey and Abbe, and Squire Celebrimbor were all present to speak to Amayara about Goodness. Their compassion, friendship, and sacrifice of their time on her behalf are only a few facets of being part of the Light. I am certain Amayara is beginning to understand now.
I love you very much.

As mother taught us, appearance is very important. She has always made a point to provide us with clean clothing, perfumes, creams, and colorful dyes for our faces. I have found that maintaining the image of the Fortress is not much different.
Many foes direct their complaints about the Fortress to me. Imperial Warmaster Blitzenturt and Nagesh the Scion spectre have complained to me about the reckless actions of the Brigade and how it reflects poorly on the image of the Fortress. Even Xalli, a lightwalker, equates the violence of the Brigade with the Fortress as a whole. I will make it a point to ensure that others learn that the Fortress are not senseless killers, as it is tempting to believe. The Acolytes value Peace, Healing, and Protection Not Murder.Though others do not see it, the Marans seek the same as well.
Even Commander Jinroh found my actions honorable - at least for the time being. At Squire Celebrimbors request, I stood and allowed the young warrior to do honorable battle with the evil duergar. Though he ultimately fell, I absorbed the pain of Celebrimbor and allowed them to fight as long as I could, before Warmaster Blitzenturt distracted my thoughts by swinging his hammer at my head. I fended the Warmaster off by summoning forth wrath, and he ran quickly.I did not give chase. Not knowing of Celebrimbors commitment to man on man combat, Squire Rouchevien also entered the fray, and Jinroh stunned him with a well-placed blow. I stood by and guarded Rouchevien, ensuring that no further senseless violence would occur.
While I could have sought revenge upon Jinroh for slaying the young Squire Celebrimbor while Blitzenturt had attacked me, I stayed my hand. Jinroh left all of Celebrimbors belongings, and told me that my peaceful behavior was honorable. It was touching to see one of the darkness make such an observation. It shows me that there is indeed Hope for those of dark heart. Even they know deep in their hearts what is right, and what is wrong.
I will strive to be more of an active voice, now that the image of the fortress has been called into question by many Therans.I hope that I can continue to show that the Fortress is truly about Peace, through refraining from the temptations of revenge, violence, and hatred. I will try only to use violence if it is necessary to aid innocents lives.
Much love,
Audriel Tyr'Elendria

RoleChapter 5 Chapter 19 - Reviving the Faith Added Sat Jun 5 13:22:53 2004 at level 51:Dear Aria,
Lady Sabiene greeted me with kind words, saying I was doing a fine job of keeping the faith. I have preached to others and brought quite a few new seekers of the Kara Chal to her shrine. Some of these interested followers include Aliel, Eamane, Thirykii, and Accuachi. So far, Eamane has found her blessings, and I am pleased.
I am also continuing to work on a lecture about violence, though I have not been able to coordinate with the council. Marshall Lariya and Cardinal Thalric have stepped down from their posts, and I imagine it will primarily be up to me to see this event through. At the very least, I wish to write something permanent for the Hall of Light, to add to our scriptures.
I love you,

RoleChapter 3 Chapter 21 - Divine Education Added Wed Jun 30 01:41:44 2004 at level 51:Dear Aria,
I have great hopes for the Fortress. As Cardinal, I must set a good example in healing and protecting others. Vahletharien ensures that scribes are well versed in our holy scriptures. Together, we hope that the scribes will faithfully uphold our duty to remain holy in the face of all evil.
One of my objectives is to make sure the Order is rich in diversity, balance, and quality. To aid in the selection process, admittees are encouraged to pursue a spiritual focus that complements their general duties as scribes. For example, a scribe may choose to study compassion. As they walk their paths, scribes must educate themselves and others through words and actions. When they are enlightened enough, they may be appointed to Acolyte status. Depending on the the nature of their study, scribes are paired with other scribes for mentorship or assigned to specific Acolytes for supervision.
In addition to their religious pursuits, Scribes are expected to show some basic skill on the field. Their duties as scribes imply that they must demonstrate a minimal level of competence in healing and protecting others from harm.
Much like our schools in Darsylon, standards are quite high in the Grey Halls.Lord Shokai even suggested that I make sure applicants demonstrate worthiness prior to being admitted into the Halls. The ten or so scribes I have admitted thus far show promise, but none have been promoted to Acolyte status.I hope that this will change soon.

RoleChapter 2 Chapter 22 - Engaged to Marshall Golron Added Mon Jul 19 19:54:26 2004 at level 51:Dear Aria,
I agreed to marry a childhood friend of mine, Marshall Golron Tul'lunka. We had been travelling since both of us were very young. In our old age, we have decided that it is best to spend the remainder of our lives together.
There is one small problem. Golron is a dwarf. How mother and father will accept this is beyond me. He would be happy to live in Darsylon with us, drink wine, and eat your delightful bread. However, I am not certain whether I should adopt his name, or if he should adopt our House name.
Sister Elstratuviel, a maran, has agreed to perform the marriage ritual. I hope to see you sometime soon with my new husband.
