Ioniyeh Linyeha the Purveyor of Leafy Greens, High Herald of the Eternal Star

Chapter 3

Though she was at first wary of becoming a Herald, Ioniyeh soon
realized that it would not mean she would be confined indoors. In
fact, Ioniyeh was pleased to find that her travelling habits did not
have to change in any way AND she gained so many new friends. She
immediately took over the Kitchen of the Eternal Star and thinks of
the room as her own. There is only really one thing that she is
unsure of and that is holding an event. She catered fudge to the
Herald Cadothu's auction and found herself quite uncomfortable
with regards to the company it attracted. This is the reason she
seems hesitant when it comes to an idea suggested by Cadothu's
wife Raja. Raja suggested that Ioniyeh and another new Herald
Kohl have a cooking contest. Ioniyeh is sure she could wipe the
floor with poor Kohl, but she is not sure she wants to see so many
of certain people in attendance while she does it.
On being barefoot: Ioniyeh found some lovely ankle bells in a chest
in the Lyceum and has refused to wear shoes of any kind since then.

Chapter 4

One of the first stops on Ioniyeh's journeys took her to the city of
Hamsah Mu'tazz. There she was exposed to a culture so colorful and
different from her own that it was almost overwhelming. She loved
every minute of it. She spoke with some of the desert people,
listening to their stories and lore. One story in particular, about
a goddess, intrigued her. The Lady was said to be seen as a mirage,
dancing, as Her spirit dictated, across the sands of the harsh desert.
Ioniyeh smiled as she heard this story. How wonderful it is to live
according only to one's own will, she thought. Ioniyeh sought out
an audience with the goddess, mostly from curiosity, and spoke with
Her for a short time. She left the Lady's temple with a profound
sense of happiness at having met such an inspiring being. Ioniyeh's
resolution to live truly had been strengthened tenfold.
On a somewhat related note, before she ever met the Goddess and
slightly after her first visit to Hamsah Mu'tazz, Ioniyeh found
herself sitting at the Bar of the Inn of the Eternal Star. She was
intrigued by the atmosphere there, something which was most certainly
created by the Heralds present.Their attitude reminded Ioniyeh
greatly of the way things were back home in Eryn Galen and, though
unsure whether she would truly fit in with them, she began to toy
with the idea of becoming a Herald.

Chapter 5

Ioniyeh was born in Eryn Galen to a cousin of the owner of the music
store there. She was always encouraged to choose her own way through
life, her parents meant this career-wise but Ioniyeh interpreted it a
bit differently. Ioniyeh chose to follow the family tradition of
song anyway. Her family is quite large and close. Dinners with them
are like celebrations, filled with music and motion. Each of the
children (Ioniyeh has 4 sisters and 3 brothers, by the way) was
expected to aid in the meal preparation from the time they could say
"supper" and because of this, Ioniyeh has some talent with food.
Though she was never unhappy with her home, in her adolescent years
Ioniyeh felt a great need to leave home and discover the intricacies
of the world around her. As she bid her parents farewell she vowed
to them that she would follow her own will and spirit exclusively,
enjoy everything about being alive, and do and see and learn all
she is capable of. This made them feel better about her leaving home
but it was also a vow to herself.

Chapter 1

Not long after the death of the High Herald Esfergref, Ioniyeh
was appointed to the position. By this time, Ioniyeh had become
extremely comfortable with being a Herald and she was proud to be
their leader. She immediately set about inducting two applicants,
Selessya and Rixljyn, the first of which had been denied by the
former High Herald, and the latter who Ioniyeh just felt was
incredibly promising. They both have turned out much to Ioniyeh's
liking, being very competent and willing. They bring to the
Heralds variety, which Ioniyeh enjoys thoroughly.
On a more serious and heartrending note, some time after Esfergref
died, Ioniyeh took (more than) a liking to a fellow Herald, an
Elven bard, Ansrtril. She tried very hard to ignore these feelings
because the object of her attentions was in a relationship with
one of Ioniyeh's dearest friends, and the wife of the late High
Herald, Alessa.Even after Alessa's death, Ioniyeh ignored her
heart, for she felt it would be unfair to her friend. Now,
Ansrtril had been in an arranged engagement with an Elven lady
named Amtheia for quite some time. He had even told Alessa
that he would break the engagement for her, but Alessa was taken
by time before it occurred. Ioniyeh merely assumed that Ansrtril
did not wish to marry Amtheia. So, with some nudging from a friend
Ioniyeh confessed her love. She was more than delighted to learn
that the feeling was mutual, and their love quickly blossomed.
Amtheia and the arranged marriage were not entirely out of the
picture however, as Ansrtril loved her as well.Ansrtril never
lied to Ioniyeh about this, the confusion herein was the fault
of her assumptions. Ioniyeh thought that Ansrtril's love for
Amtheia might have been mere friendship, for she knows how strong
the bonds of friendship can be, but as Ioniyeh witnessed Amtheia
steal a kiss, she began to doubt. Ioniyeh felt particularly
threatened by this because, as women sometimes do, she knew
herself to be with child. Without letting Ansrtril know of her
predicament, she told him she could not be a fling on the side
and that he must choose one woman. Though he loved them both,
he chose to spend Amtheia's last days with her.Ioniyeh wandered
intensely during these days, feeling every emotion known to her.
She harbored no one any ill will. What was anger was more general
and was taken out on the inanimate. Near the end of Ioniyeh's
wanderings, the Lady Amtheia spoke to her. She told Ioniyeh that
her health had finally failed. She also said she was sorry that
Ioniyeh had to be a part of the sorrowful episode and that Ansrtril
should not be alone. Ioniyeh considered these words carefully
before approaching the man she loved. She told him again that
he had a choice to make and feeling particularly generous at that
moment, she forgave him for the way she had been treated. It
was then that she placed his hand over her stomach and informed him
that he had indeed finished his last piece for his Lady Muse.
They spent the rest of the night together, trying to be happy
despite the ominous and obvious knowledge of his failing health.
The next morning, she awoke to find him gone, forever, with a
scroll and a gift in his place.
Ioniyeh intends to raise the child as she lives her own

Chapter 2

While not openly hostile toward the cities, Ioniyeh is not
interested in seeing them get larger and overrun the wild lands.
By aiding her friend Thresinok in his retrieval missions against
the Spire she feels she is doing a small part in preventing the
cities from growing any larger. The reason she does not hate
the Tribunals the way she hates the Empire is the simple fact
that they seek to protect the cities existing. The Empire,
however, seeks to civilize and destroy one of the things
Ioniyeh loves, and that is unacceptable.
On a related note, Ioniyeh finds the Justiciar Alarian to be
wasteful and moronic. She also finds it amusing that the
Outlanders have such incredible reading skills.
She will elaborate.
1. Ioniyeh does not like to waste food; therefore, she will
often be found picking steaks and things of the like up off the
ground for her own personal use. This being said, Alarian asked
a small favor of Ioniyeh. He wished for her to sing for some of
the people in the ruined city to help keep their spirits up. But
before she even got a chance, she opened her mouth and popped in
a couple of steaks. Alarian, with his keen eye and judgmental
mind, recognized these to be steaks of some sentient being and
immediately decided Ioniyeh was a cannibal and unworthy of doing
what he asked of her. The man wouldn't listen to reason, so
now Ioniyeh harbors something of a grudge toward him.
2. When Ioniyeh delivered a missive for Manden, the Provost
magistrate of the Spire, she went out of her way to add a
disclaimer to the beginning of the message so her Outlander
friends wouldn't take the matter the wrong way. She was later
informed that she might be hunted for delivering Manden's message
anyway, despite the fact that she specifically explained that she
would not refuse to deliver any message or censor anything to
better suit her views. She grows more than a bit weary of having
to explain her actions.
