Maghrahlris the Shihan, Shadow Dweller
DescriptionHere is a decrepit looking figure closely resembling an Arial, but a freak of nature to most. Its skin, a dirty pale yellow complexion, seems stretched over its bones by force, as one would do to make a drum. It clings tightly to its petite frame, moreso than leather would to a Drowess. Covering its sickly looking skin are the darkest black of feathers. They too, however, are nothing more than a disgusting visual. The feathers that lay close together on its torso and hands are extremely sleek, and look like nothing more than mud splattered across its body. Only with the blowing of the wind can you tell that they are actually small feathers. The plumage, if you are bold enough to call it that, on its arms and legs, are worse still. They sprout from its body in clumps like leaves from branches - random and plentiful. There have been corpses of falcons less nauseating than the view you have in front of you. Luckily, the feathers on its face are hidden behind a mask. The mask has been molded to fit over the features of an arial with an extended beak. It is hard to tell whether or not the figure itself has such a prominent beak, but you do know that the mask appears to be fixed tightly to its face, as if it were a part of it, and not an accessory. Its eyes glow evilly behind the mask, blazing red like the wildest of fires. One could say that it sees the world through the embers of hell. Its wings are all black, and covered with stronger looking feathers, but scraggly nonethe- less. They are thinner than most wings, jutting out from its back at an upward angle, and then sloping downward, giving them an awkward appearance. The bones in its wings creak and snap loudly as they fold and unfold in disgusting fashions. It is, however, able to hug its wings more closely to its body than normal, and when it does, a tattoo of a great winged creature inked in crimson becomes clearly visible upon its back.

RoleChapter 8 The Talshial: Spawn of Evil Added Tue Jul 27 22:15:44 2004 at level 1:Maghrahlris is known amongst certain circles of demon summoners, evil alchemists, and most of all, the Talshidar, as a miracle. To everyone else, his existence is nothing more spectacular than any other Arial before him. However, there are few that know his dark secrets, and even fewer who understand it. Amongst the Talshidar, he has come to be named a Talshial - a breed betwen Talshidar and Arial. How he came to be is somewhat of a mystery to those Talshidar not smart or highly ranked enough to be included in his spawning, but to all of them, his purpose was clear. Maghrahlris was to be sacrificed the first full moon of the Month of Shadows. It is said that his blood was the key to releasing the great demon Talshidarus upon Thera. All the head conjurers and necromancers came together at the top of the mountain, drawing complex circles of summoning and scattering across the cliff bones and remains of many kinds. But, when it came time for the grunts to bring forth the sacrifice, he was nowhere to be found. As if blessed (or cursed) by Talshidarus himself, he was told in a dream about the things that were to come, and to flee from the Caves. He managed to flee, but his wings were no yet powerful enough to make it down the cliff face. He plumuted, and was badly injured. Again, as if Talshidarus himself wished not to be freed, a great sandstorm arose in the desert, and carried him to a hidden part of the Oryx Steppes. There he laid unconscious for nearly a year... His slumber was not all peaceful, however. In flashes he had nightmares of winged demons scourging the earth, ordered by a great winged Talshidar towering over a large mountain. All races of Thera were banished, and from the ground rose a legion of demons, devils, and Talshidar - the new inhabitants of this plane. And amidst all the genocide, stood Maghrahlris, He was not harmed, nor were his hands bloodied. Instead, he stood as a leader, as a god, ordering the others around him to do his deeds. Near the end of his one year coma, the great demon atop the mountain spoke to him. His speech was not Theran, but yet, he still understood every word, and he understood them clearly... "I am the great demon Talshidarus. It was I, and I alone, that saved you from your death. Delight not in this revelation, however, for now, you owe me your life. This world is not yet fit for my occupation. There are those, mortal and immortal, good and evil, who would not allow my domination of Thera. Though my power is great, there are those still more powerful than me. The silver-winged Maran, the raging bear of the north, and the dark emperor, are just few of the many I would be forced to face alone. Their numbers also are many, much more for the Talshidar to hold off. It is now in your hands, to make Thera suitable for my reign. Do not fail me, for just as I have saved your life, I can bestow upon you a fate much worse than death." And then, the voice was gone, and Maghrahlris opened his eyes to the world...

RoleChapter 7 The REAL Maghrahlris Added Tue Jul 27 22:19:10 2004 at level 1:Maghrahlris knows that his destiny is to rule the world alongside Talshidarus. That, coupled with his sense of racial superiority, gives him a great sense of vanity. It is a pained sense of vanity, however. He knows that for as long as he lives, his life is in Talshidarus' hands. To be free, he must cut those hands off, but so long as Talshidarus remains out of his reach, it is impossible. It is only with the goal of destroying the great demon, that he atttempts to bring about his reign. Maghrahlris chose the path of an assassin, so that he could safely hide within the shadows, as he watches his schemes and plans unfold. He much prefers to use an indirect approach when solving conflicts, never wanting to sully his hands with blood or shed light upon his shadows. With that in mind, he follows Talshidarus' lead in using others as pawns. He enjoys having control over situations and people, so long as he remains a secret to the majority of Thera. Lastly, he reveres magic, for it was only through the darkest of alchemy and necromancy that he was spawned. He especially has a respect for Conjurers and Necromancers, for they wield powers not of this world.

RoleChapter 6 Time passes... paths revealed. Added Sun Aug 8 16:43:27 2004 at level 38:It has been 23 years, and not much progress, but this was expected. However, time has not passed without a plan developing. The Scions... they have the power Talshidarus spoke of, they just have yet to learn to harness that power. I have taken the steps to join them, but the road is hard. Alternatively, the path to the Fold has brought to my ears word of Valguarnera and the mark of the Hydra. It will be branded upon me, but first, I must join his people, to prove my worth. Once within Scion, Talshidarus will surely believe I am taking steps to bring about his reign, but in truth, I am really taking leaps and bounds in the process of gaining my freedom. Also, already there are plans laid out to cause unrest over all of Thera, though I will need to improve as an assassin before those plans can be put into motion. Life continues...

RoleChapter 4 Reflous, the Butcher of a past Settlement Added Sun Aug 15 10:53:45 2004 at level 41:Through the void of time I went, in search of a means to redress myself. I found myself in the Galadon Settlement of the past, facing an old butcher, who also had the skills of an assassin. Swiftly, did he slay me. However, an offer, he did give me. An offer to become stronger. Destroy the Law he told me. So indeed, I began to, by assassinating Amarion within the Ruined City. The imp, Lyristeon, revealed himself, then, and snickered to himself as an act of chaos brought the death of a lawmen. Still, the Law indeed hampers my attempts at assassination, and still, do I wish them wiped out. Plans still, I have yet to put in motion, that will speed up the process tenfold.

RoleChapter 3 Giamatia, the Insolent Exile is DEAD Added Sun Aug 15 10:56:52 2004 at level 41:A task was set before me by Mekantos the second time we spoke. My fault it was, for bringing the assassin up, but time moves one way, and deal with it I have to. To kill Giamatia, the Exile, was my task. At first, impossible it seemed. A taste of power he already had, and indeed, stronger than me he was. For a long time, I saw not Giamatia, and thought I never would again... until today. Spotted him in Galadon, I did, and quickly I rushed to confront him. Traditional fighting I use less of, but still, with another rogue, you have not much choice. After a successful owaza and a powerful kick, it was done, thus my second promise to Mekantos was kept. Await his word, now, I do.

RoleChapter 2 The Roads of Life - Change of Heart Added Thu Aug 19 02:06:40 2004 at level 43:All promises I have kept, in the name of the Hydra. Xaden was assassinated, Giamatia was slain. I even struck down Golron, to prove my worth. Still, something, or someone, forbids me from joining the Scion. An omen, perhaps. Nowm I must find a new path in life. I refuse to cater to Mekantos' every wish. A mere Arial, he is, mortal or immortal. With that, indeed, the Imp Lyristeon has had his eyes on me. Of worth, he seems to see me, and knowledgable of my ways, I tend to see him. Perhaps my whole life has been nothing more than a grand scheme set up by the Imp of Chaos. Find out, I will. The rest of my life depends on it.

RoleChapter 1 From Scion to Empire Added Sun Aug 22 12:19:29 2004 at level 48:From Scion to the Empire After seeing Mekantos' attachment to the other of his race, Trotat, my drive to become a Scion faded quickly. Realized, I did, that only a powerful and plentiful group of people did I need, to realize my dreams. Magi could be enslaved to study the magics I needed, and with Scion's demise, the power of the Scepter and their secrets would be mine anyway. Quickly, did I advance to the rank of Shadow Dweller, though my dreams of Shadow Lord were smashed by the appointment of Urog. Still, this changes nothing. It will be mine - the of Emperor, the fall of Scion, the rule of this world, and most importantly, my freedom from Talshidarus.
