His missing eye and mangled hand occasionally cause him trouble
though he takes precautions to prevent it, so it is rare. The
constant buzzing he hears prevents him from hearing any sort of
whispers or quiet noises, unless it is the hornets themselves
speaking to him.

Chapter 1

Rikiral's experiments continued for weeks and months. He began to
care more for the enjoyment they gave him, than for his lord's
wishes. Nakzuran began to hear an odd buzzing sound in his ears,
as if some insect was flying around his head. Despite his efforts
to swat whatever it was away he could not. Over the days ahead
the sound grew louder and louder a constant hum, throbbing like a
beating heart.

Nakzuran awoke one morning to the sound of a strange voice,
though he saw none in the room at first. As the glaze cleared
from his tired eyes he saw hovering before him a large hornet.

"Lord Khasotholas is displeased." It whispered to him.

As it did a thousand more voices whispered the same. They told
him the truth of the dark lord Rikiral had spoken of, and the
weakness that would not be allowed to continue. As the first
hornet flew off, the voices of those he could still not see
continued to speak. Nakzuran had been chosen. The time had come
for him to replace his master.

Creeping to the front hall, the voices told him where his
master's axe was hidden, bidding him to take it in hand. Nakzuran
headed to the large chambers of the upper floor and stood over
his master's bed. Nakzuran brought the axe up over his head and
brought it down on Rikiral's neck, severing his head. Taking it
in hand a dark power flowed from his palm, draining what little
life remained within it. As the voices in his head taught him
more, Nakzuran set out to do the bidding of his Lord.

Chapter 2

Nakzuran Duclar, named for his new master's grandfather, had a
rather normal childhood. He saw little of the man whom had
rescued him, and was cared for by a group of his slaves. Nakzuran
attended the main school in Tir Talath, populated mostly by the
sons of farmers and traders. Their instructor spoke constantly of
the order of paladins, of how they should all aspire to join them
someday. In time Nakzuran was convinced, and sought out the one
he believed to be his father to tell him of his goal.

Sensing an unacceptable weakness within the boy, the dark priest
pulled his axe from his belt and brought it down upon the head of
Nakzuran, striking him in the right side of his face. Fully
expecting Nakzuran to die, when he did not Rikiral decided that
he might be of some use after all.

"It is time you learned the truth of the world." He said, when
Nakzuran finally awoke.

Rikiral told Nakzuran of the dark lord he served, of the fate
that is in store for Thera. He told him of how all must serve his
Lord, or be swept aside. As Nakzuran had proven his strength,
physically at least, Rikiral began to use him for his various
experiments. To use the pain they caused to drive whatever belief
in good Nakzuran still felt from him completely. At one point he
severed Nakzuran's hand from his arm to see if he could use his
lord's power to grow it anew. His efforts proved to be futile.
The dark lord did not wish one so weak to use his power.

Role

Chapter 3

A pack of knights were bound to Darsylon to form a new route of
trade, when they found one of the outlying villages to be under
attack. A band of drow had come up from the underdark to hunt
their surface brethren. The knights, having caught them by
surprise, ran down all but their leader. A cleric of some
strength she took nearly all of them down before being captured.
The prisoner was bought back to Tir Talath to be sold as a slave,
but one of the warriors decided instead to take her as his own
prize.

It came more as an annoyance and any surprise when Jarradal
discovered that his slave carried a child. In his rage he pulled
a dull knife from his desk and tore out the throat of the chained
drow before slicing open its abdomen. Tearing the child from
within, he carried it down into the catacombs, hiding it among
the bones of a dark recess to rot. Shortly afterwards the
services of a hidden temple ended, the dripping blood catching
the eye of one of the dark acolytes.
