Vonyx Ignimbryte the Elemental Lord

Description

This large round svirfnebli looks like a small boulder of rock before he
moves. His skin is the color and texture of rugged gray basalt stone.
His thick skin is covered with bumps, lumps, and other protrusions. His head
is completely bald, but far from smooth. Two large bushy white eyebrows hang
above his huge round eyes like dormant albino caterpillars. His eyes are
simply amazing, they look to be two giant master polished bright green
emeralds stuck into his face. That is until his tiny pupils can be seen
gazing out from them. He wears an oversized robe the same dark gray as his
skin, it covers most of his varied attire. At his hip he carries a well worn
small leather tome and a large black pouch that looks to be filled with many
rounded shapes.

The Gift

Vonyx took to Invocation like a worm to earth. There was never any
question what path he would take coming from a long line of powerful
masters of the elements. He thinks of his magic as a sacred gift
to be used to defend the Mother and the Stone. This belief drives his
need to hone these magics, Vonyx is a hard working student of the arcane.
Like many in his family, Vonyx holds a powerful affinity for the element
of earth. There is almost a sentient connection between Vonyx and what
he calls the Stone. He also possesses better then average talent with all
the other elements except for lightning. Having grown up underground Vonyx
had never experienced lightning before. He was amazed the first time he
encountered it. While he holds no talent in it, he does find it a fascinating
part of the Mother.

A brief history of Vonyx Ignimbryte

Vonyx lived the life of a recluse amongst the Svirfnebli. He was raised as
part of the Cult of the Great White Worm. The worshipers of the Great White
Worm were a small group of naturalists with a fanatical connection to the
earth even for Svirfnebli. They were viewed as prophets and wisemen by some
and eccentric madmen by the rest of Blingdenstone. Then a series of strange
quakes shook the city, the very earth seemed to speak a strange word. The
supernatural quakes frightened the council as normally they could sense
quakes long before they came to pass. As well as the eerie sound, that seemed
as if the very earth screamed Thar-Eris. Vonyx being the leader of the cult
was called before King Schnicktick and his council to advise them. Vonyx
knowing what Thar-Eris meant, spoke of the end of the world and called for
the dissolution of the King and the councils rule. He also demanded the
cessation of all mining for profit and war to be declared on the other cities
of Thera. Of course this was not taken well by the King or council, and Vonyx
was declared insane by the council and banished from Blingdenstone. He was
bound and gagged and left in the sands near the city of Hamsah Mutazz.
Having heard the very earth sound the death knell for all civilization, being
banished from his home, and finding himself in the middle of a foreign and
hostile world, all Vonyx could think was, everything is going to fates plan.
