#390, "Change to invoker 'touch' spells next reboot."

Starting next reboot, the four invoker 'touch' spells (*) will only improve during combat (like a weapon, only much faster), and will do so at a higher rate than they do currently. This should permit lowbie invokers (**) to master them through use, instead of by standing around a guild.

In somewhat related news, Charge Weapon can now improve if someone with the spell discharges a weapon in combat. Previously, it only checked at the moment of casting (and still does that too).

(*): Acidic Secretion, Channel Heat, Frost Fingers, and Shocking Touch.

(**): Even those who neglect the handy Affinity button.

I think that casting the touch spells accounts for a large number of spellcraft improvements. Are there any thoughts to retain this aspect or is it planned that the increased rate of improvement of the touch spells make up for it?

Looking forward to checking it out, maybe in a few months.

Spellcraft can still go up on each casting normally. As an invoker, you'll probably be casting enough other spells at low levels that the easier time with the touch spells won't impact it much. If it does, and you really care, you can spam pretty much any other spell.
