Let's assume that you want to post your favorite log with nice colors and good formatting.
The direct copy/paste approach won't work.
Standard HTML tags have "<" and ">" angle brackets around them but the forum engine accepts "[" and "]" square brackets as HTML tags.
Also, extra spaces will be removed from the log.
Why it is bad for your log?
Because an original text between square brackets in your log will be considered as an invalid HTML tag and will be removed from the log.
That means that the output of commands like "who pk" or room exit descriptions or cabal channels will be broken.
For those who aren't lazy and don't mind some additinal work I've prepared a detailed step-by-step work-around.
In this example I've used a short log that is filled with problematic symbols ( like "[" ).
1) Get your original log.
For example:
Here you see all of those problematic places: "Who pk", "[Exits: west]" in the "The Hall of Light" room description and cabal tells.

2) Go to Dioxide's Page, and format it.
You will get a nice HTML-colored version of this log.
The formatter will also replace angle brackets around prompts with literal form (so they will not be considered as standard HTML tags)
As a format target use "Display Type" = HTML-source.
( Or use your own log formatter if you have one )
Select the whole output and copy/paste it into any editor.
Don't be scared, you will see something ugly like this:

3) At this stage you have the HTLM version of your log in your favorite editor.
Now we have to convert your original square brackets in the whole text into HTML literal form, so they won't be considered as HTML tags.
Learn how to find/replace text in your editor and do this:
Replace any occurence of [ with [ ( Don't miss the semicolon )
Replace any occurence of ] with ]

4) Now we have to convert standard HTLM tags into square brackets HTML tags. Otherwise the forum engine will not recongnize them.
Do this:
Replace any occurence of < with [
Replace any occurence of > with ]
Your log is ready. Copy/paste it into your post.
