#1017, "Farewells"

Alas, I died. My last death in the Fortress wasn't planned
but Falthule kept me stunned with his bashes much more than I expected
so it went very bad for me .

This mean arial was born early in December 2000. Ranked and applied
to battle. I don't think I did well enough in my interviews with Trewyn,
plus we played at different time zones, so he didn't hurry to induct me.
But I kept trying and finally was inducted just before a new year
(with 100+ hours). Heh, it was an induction in credit:
Trewyn shrugs helplessly.
Trewyn says 'I'm going to try something new here.'
Trewyn says 'I'm going to give you a hut.'
Trewyn says 'But you have to earn your right to keep it.'
Trewyn says 'If you lie complacent.'
Trewyn says 'Show cowardice.'
Trewyn says 'I'll throw you out quicker than anything you've seen before.'
Trewyn says 'Any questions?'
Trewyn says 'Doubts?'
You say 'doubts?'
Trewyn nods.
You say 'I have none left'
Trewyn says 'You sure this is where you want to be?'
You snicker softly.
Trewyn says 'It's not easy.'
Ayragus says 'nope'
Trewyn says 'You'll die faster.'
Trewyn chuckles politely.
You say 'that is not what may scare me'
Trewyn says 'Barbarians don't have a long life expectancy...'
Trewyn sits down and rests.
Ayragus says 'the ones that do are cowards'
Trewyn says 'Or extremely brave and strong.'
You ponder the question.
Trewyn says 'But the latter is a rarity.'
Ayragus begins to wonder he is a coward
You say 'I prefer be a second'
Trewyn chuckles politely.
Trewyn nods.
You grin evilly.
Trewyn says 'We all do.'
Trewyn says 'But it's a rough path.'
Trewyn says 'Are you up for it?'
You say 'I am'
Trewyn nods.
Trewyn says 'I want to see proof of your doings each time I see you.'
You have been inducted into the BattleRagers, Haters of Magic.

It happened that I ranked quickly to hero (in a week). Almost at the same
time that major change to cabal system occurred so mages became stunned
for a while while the village had many heroes. That was the turning
point, the village became closed and basically stayed closed or almost
closed during the next several months. Even if the village was strong
enough to raid enemies we just couldn't keep items because of the lack
of low/middle rank ragers.

The Battlerager cabal used to be a good and interesting cabal to play
but there were several things in the past I didn't like. I saw many ragers
who seemed to join the cabal to fight arbiters or for Galadon's fighting
(not masters or Empire) and another kind of ragers, who often run around
naked and kill everything that moves. They usually log in, grab everything
at Destructor, wear it and rush into Galadon or the Eastern road, die and
then promptly quit or drop a link. It bugs me when people think that
is courage. Throwing your life away in hopeless attacks while being naked
over and over has nothing to do with courage, first of all it is very easy
(much harder to actually do a stuff) and usually it is not a sign of
courage but a sign of weakness. Basically these two thing I tried to avoid
(not that it took much of efforts for me to stay away from them ). Also
there was another goal for me, I tried to avoid demonstrative actions.
I didn't strive to become an incarnation of Courage and I tried to do what
_I think_ was needed (regardless of how it would look for bystanders).
I attacked when I saw a possibility to win (or achieve some other goal)
and I ran when I didn't see any. I knew I would walk along the edge with
it and I expected some negative immteration, but I didn't expect it would
THAT negative. Anyway I felt quite comfortable with this character. That was
the main source of my will to continue playing Torakkel after each portion
of immteraction. I lived a long life and I simply can't say I didn't commit
any mistake, hehe I had good fights and I had dumb fights (in which I usually
died, oops ). Considering rites: I didn't feel that I can provide a full
agreement with Thror at leader's position, also my playing time is limited,
because of these two reasons along with several lesser ones I ignored both
rites during my life (When Rio and when Sharisalk became leaders).
To answer on further questions, technically I was booted out of the
village only once (the reason was lame, hehe, well, I even can't say for
sure what was this reason) and earlier I was shunned by barbarians but
still was a villager for the episode with Chalin, perhaps the only thing
I truly regret though I completely disagree with Thror/Chalin's
interpretation of it.

The change of battle... I think it was needed though I wouldn't change
it that much. Battle still would work in old style but it can be better
with changes. Basically I see three aspects which were changed: two of them
supposed to solve problems I mentioned before: naked runs and Galadon/Eastern
road fighting, villagers should fight true mages in the first place, also now
they should put some strategy in their fights. And the third one, a famous
rager's gang... It is annoying when after each fight mages tell you how you
should fight, how you should not gang, how you should do this and how you
should do that. Battle doesn't enforce gang but on the other side, enemies
of the village should not expect "strict parity" and use this knowledge in
their fights (for example they should not attack a group of ragers and
expect them all but one flee or something like that). Ragers should decide
themselves when to keep parity and when it should be broken.
What I don't like in this change... And I felt that when I was a general.
People called me "General", not "Torakkel". You get Empire-like army where
soldiers must keep their mouths shut and obey commanders regardless of their
retardiness and you lose a brotherhood which was one of good features of
the old battle. But I think this thing can be adjusted.

Gods
----
Well, Torakkel was an "atheist" :0

The engine of all cabal wars now is Scion,
Basically only Scion and Battle raid other cabals,
the rest of them raid only Scion.
When Scion lies in ruins cabal wars die.
Something is wrong with it.

Fortress
--------
Damn mages and their half-OOC tells
At this point raiding system doesn't work well.
It is not easy to raid Warlock and don't touch Maran/Dawn.
Especially when they sometimes defend together and sometimes they don't.

Goodies, perhaps at one point you should stop walking in groups of
5-10 people. *wink*

Anterrabae, Felgier, Andulvar - "overpowered conjurers", we had many good
fights and you were skilled enough to be above average level in the Fortress.

Kardonian, Iautarc - old style invokers, damn your damage reduction,
though your pillar attempts on me usually made me laugh hard .
same in less degree may be applied to numerous new warlock invokers.

Balrahd - Heh, usually the leader of those "scary" armies of goodies
though we didn't fight often directly, several times you joined
warlocks in retrieve.

Airella - mongoose! Stop damnit distracting me from my business

Talnic - You were one of a few competent warriors in Fortress.

Elarion, Pohanad - drunks! Pohanad, you rocked.

Greil - damn your kickass forms. porcupine/lion is a nightmare for a rager.

Disola - flyto/rake is a pain as well when a transmuter has a clue.

Annalena - Heh, drake! yar!

Kamba - Good job. An example for marans.

The rest of you are crocodiles *rofl*.

Nexus
-----
Scary permagangers. Heh, To say the truth, most of my deaths happened to you
and often while raiding. Your guardians with their soften/slow/kotegaeshi crap
ruin fighters and then you walk in and eat me.

Sanorik, Vahlen - the most famous bond.
Go and fight a sword spec bonded with a lion. You will die to them
You can't effectively avoid damage from a sword spec because of ripostes
and you can't effectively parry lions, they basically kill you landing
2-3 attacks per round unless you will kill them first.

Bonjo, Eglician - less scary, but still...

Sulteris, Jaggonath - almost the same as Sanorik and Vahlen
panther is almost as bad as a lion (and Sulteris USED wands )
And Zaryxl flying above ready to join them... hehe

Caelph - You and Vahlen mainly were two nexians whom I didn't like
to attack/kill because I respected you.

Scion
-----
Well,a stupid cabal because it still has no purpose.
I think it one of reasons why they keep deleting.

Emile - punk!

Yizenxlach, Kravidian, Salviar - bad bad necromancers
though at some point I felt almost bad about Salviar because
he couldn't land a single spell on me through spellbane for weeks.
(perhaps -100 saves help, I don't know).

Rilius - notable wildcat, though you die too often.

Tarvinor - what can I say, a competent warrior, a nightmare for many villagers

Mebain, Makinso, Poxulup, Mespon - hehe, poor scions

Vaustrien - Damn your stalks and that assassinate you landed on me. Skilled assassin.

Lokilith - All our fights usually end nowhere, you have invincible forms.
While other scions usually walk in gangs, you often fought alone.

Daemelin - Your mongoose let you win most of fights against villagers
though you usually didn't dare to shift into a tiger in our fights.
Stop hoarding those things if you can't use them? *wink* *wink*

Hejduk - Bad mofo. One of a few antipaladins who didn't delete with a losing
of his unholy weapon.

Tribunal
--------
Roussiant - perhaps the only tribunal with whom I had several fights
while being wanted.

Battle
------
Thror - What can I say? I see how hard you are trying to make the village
better and I find that admirable, but the result often are negative. When
I think why it happens over and over... Well, I don't know the answer
But from my experience: you often judged and jumped on me (and not only me)
because you misinterpreted my reasoning. It angered me many times because
I was accused for things I didn't even keep in my mind, so I started yelling
back to you. Was I always right? Perhaps No, but I can't say I was always
wrong.
Just a hypothetical example: (and no, it is not from my experience):
let's admit a villager dropped his link under raid:
the event is simple: a villager dropped a link.
but it may happen because:
1) He is a coward, He fear to lose his eq and a similar crap.
2) Because his computer crashed, or because of a boss-alert, or something
like that.
My bets you will jump on that villager for the first case and if the true
reason was second this villager probably will delete and start to boycott
the cabal (as many players do now). In the game you refuse to listen any
explanation and thus you don't give yourself a chance to discern a true
reason. And it can't be called Thror's roleplaying because the massive giant,
Destructor, Drow Master, etc all of them have "the same RP".

Kastellyn - Cool drunken bard. I hope you will affect mortal affairs
more in the future,

Trewyn - Good job as a leader. Though I don't like time-based style
of induction (it is unfair to many players), still your inductions
were good.

Lreeia - Suddenly dissappeared.

Hyshrawr - respected you. Very good villager.

Kyilith and Garatolo - You had Thror stalking you with his hammer
being ready to throw you out of the village. As far as I understand
for attacking "non-mages". Sometimes you did dumb things but still
I can't consider you as bad villagers.

Chalin - You were a good villager before you became a veteran.
After you started to act like you are a gift to the village.

Ysaertvo - heh, "dumb" felar, you shouldn't delete that fast
I enjoyed your company.

Rio - Good villager, and a good leader though I can't say "very good"
because for a leader it is necessary to be around often and cover
different time zones, in this aspect your leadership failed.
Heh, damn you, you screwed that Drow Master thing but it wasn't your fault.
With his attitude that drow was going to nowhere. Though it added
a lot of pain on my ass.

Tahren - One of the best villagers. I remember you from your youth
when you were a little paladin bandaging the villagers left and right,
until your death when you became the captain of the village.
Though later in the life I got a feeling I talk with a zombie but I understand
as a follower of Thror you didn't have a wide choice.

Davrin, Sharisalk, Garradiuk - well, it is your duty to build the village.
Would you give up the village will be ruined for a few more months.

Kerig - the last bard of the village. You were a significant part
of the village.

Wodrahcir - a little but a stout svirf! Good job.

Aleridric - You could be a good villager. But if you lost your will to be one.. delete?

Other
-----
Lhydian - Yar! Rake! Yips!

Ethedrich - crazy master invoker, we had like a zillion fights when I was young.

Shamseddin, Tholden - notable imperials

Darbhi - heh, damn shark.

Torakkel

PS: When I will get time I will spam Dioxide's board with logs
Also my description and %.

The gray-green feathered bird-like creature stands before you.
His proud bearing reveals his noble origin. The well-built muscular
torso of a fighter doesn't let you doubt about years and years he spent
in training and combats. A closer examination let you notice
a few small scars on his body, but neither of them looks like
a dangerous wound. His speed and fighting skills usually let him
to avoid crushing blows in brawls and his enemies have to put a lot
of efforts even to touch him.
He is a taciturn arial and his wise estimating glance discloses
him as a person with a grasping mind. He usually has his own opinion
upon occurred events and doesn't allow instincts to guide him.
It is impossible to consider him as a person who follows the crowd.
