Chapter 3

Some years later Shami sits in her usual corner, eyeing the hustle and bustle
of the Hamsah Mu'Tazz market square. She routinely inspects the usual
merchants and travelers, nothing out of the ordinary. Coming into view from
the west at a fast pace, a tall man with a grim face catches her attention.
Wearing a dark purple robe with pointed hood he seems to glide through the
crowd. As the man turns to head towards the northern gate, the last light of
the day catches something in his left hand. Instantly aware of it, the man
lets it fall in a pocket. Too late, Shami's curiosity is piqued. Swiftly she
follows before the man can leave the city and the gate closes.

Not entering Balator proper, the man heads east towards the nearby fields.
After a brief walk the dark silhouet of an old chapel comes in sight.
Unrelenting the man heads inside at equally swift pace. Eager to find out what
is going on, Shami scouts the area before going around to the back of the
delipated building. After a while as she sits there, back against the worn
stones, incomprehensable yelling coming from within the old chapel. After a
loud whooosh multi-colored light beams out of the broken windows.

Unable to resist her curiosity, Shami scans the wall for foot holds and climbs
up to the nearest window. Noticing the remains of a wooden walkway, she gently
falls through the window onto the old wood, not making a sound.
