Chapter 4

She had felt odd all morning. Her day had started out routine enough. She
woke in the healer's guild in Voralian City and practiced her supplications a
little bit longer than she usually did. She realized that she was putting off
her plan today. Today she moving to Voralian City. Her plan that she did not
want to go through but she needed to do. She spoke with Cardinal of the
Fortress, a beautiful elven man she had always thought, about a loan. She met
him at the temple in Hamsah to borrow enough gold and set out to register at
Galadon for her new home. She could feel a knot in her throat getting worse
as she walked into the Registry and paid the fee. Walking out of build she
had to step aside out of the roadway to gather herself as emotion overcame
her momentarily. She gathered herself and wiped the tears from eyes and
continued down the road. There was work to be down, after all.

Why had I been so sad that day? I guess it was the act of moving put a
permeance to my exile. It was a sign that I had begun to accept it and was
changing my life because of it. You see, I realized that my redemption was
not to come. At least not in the way that I thought. I had spent so much time
thinking, planning, scheming about how it was going to make it up my people
for the thing that I had done. How I was to do a deed that would make them
accept me again so that I could go home. This was flawed thinking though, I
think. My presence, I realized made them think of the flaw in their own kind.
I represent what can happen when someone does not understand the implication
of their actions. I make them doubt themselves. I remind them of that
horrible day. Worst of all, I bring anger and hate to their hearts. I cannot
fix the effect that I have on them...not really. There are some things that
you cannot make up for and all a person can do is accept that they made a
mistake and try not to repeat it. I made a horrible mistake. My heart is
broken, and I will shoulder the burden of that failure for my entire life. To
make things right with my people, I will respect their wishes, and simply
stay away. I am in exile and shall stay that way. I will use my heartbreak to
always remind me of the mistakes that I am capable of and to not repeat them.


I will never return to Darsylon for the remainder of my days. So that I will
never inspire darkness in the hearts of my people with my presence. Azorinne
