Chapter 5

Tameron continued to study illicit magics in private, fearful of
what her pack and especially her father - Chalak, a highly regarded
and veteran warrior - would do if they found out about her profane
abilities. As fate would have it, he did. On the eve of her naming
day right of passage, Chalak, sensing a subtle change in his daughter,
secretly watched as she snuck from their abode and followed her to an
obscure and secluded part of the woods. As Tameron opened herself to
the dark, mystical energies, Chalak charged from his hiding spot,
intent to do something, anything, that would stop his daughter. Shock
and fear rooted Tameron at the spot. A vicious backhand then sent her
sprawling to the ground in a crumpled heap. Something snapped inside
of her then. With the magic coursing through her, enlivening her,
coupled with years of pent up rage and frustration, she elongated her
claws into vicious instruments of death. Her muscles bulged with the
strength of giants. Her pace quickened faster than the swiftest felar.
With a feral growl she lunged at her father with supernatural strength
and speed, ripping his throat out in one motion. Blood sprayed wildly
about, drenching her from head to toe. She let loose another feral
scream as the bloodlust took her. With that, the rage and magic fled
from her as quickly as it was built, leaving her weak and unsteady.
But not leaving her remorseful. A wicked sneer spread across her blood
flecked lips as she looked upon the power she had commanded.
