Chapter 3

Iegob was standing in the hall of remembrance, trying to summon forth a feeling
of the past legendary warriors of the village. Soon he would participate in the
ancient ritual to select a new Commander. Such a dumb creature as Iegob was
much less distracted by thoughts and therefore could feel the presence of the
spirits from old. This was a great day, the greatest day this far in Iegobs
long life. A century of hard training and war had led him here, to this very
moment of preparation. He closed his eyes and mumbled the first pray he had
ever made since he decided to follow the great lord, asking for strength to
conquer the position as Commander.

With a quick glance up towards the skies through the small smoke hole in the
hut, Iegob adjusted his armors and turned around, heading towards the shrine,
the village lords had summoned them, it has begun.


*CRACK* The sound seemed to echo in the circle as the mattock met with
Thomayens bones. The force of the blow crushed his bones, Iegob and the crowd
around the circle knew it was over, the little drow could not withstand the
might of the fire giants blows for long.
Iegob had drawn his first blood in the rites, and the strange tingling
sensation of fear and being nervous changed into a feeling he was well aware
of, self-confidence, strength.

Iegob SMASH HARD! SMASH EM ALL Iegob yelled as he let his mattock fall with a
heavy blow on the slightly larger giants arm, a crushing sound was heard and at
the same time the other giants face became a mask with bloodshot eyes as he
forced himself into a frenzy of blood thirst. The two giants both enraged by
the scent of blood, drumming their mattocks at each other's bodies, heavy blows
that most mortal men wouldn't withstand, until suddenly Iegob misjudged the
situation swinging his mattocks wildly just right past the other giants torso,
the crowd around the circle knew it was over, Luggbok had defeated Iegob

The rites continued and the blood continued to flow, sound of bones being
crushed, and boots clashing through the blood-filled grounds echoed around the
area. When finally, it was time for the last test of battle.

The greatest warriors of Thera spread out, into the forests, caves and roads.
All of them, waiting for the Avatars call. And then it was heard, FIGHT, the
words rung in Iegobs ears as if he was standing just two feet away. A moment of
hesitation before deciding to stick with his tactics. He would hunt for the
drow first, as he had found a mithril hammer on the ground, amazingly alike the
ones he had seen a beard cowered dwarf wield on some of the tapestries in the
village.
