Role

Chapter 1

As we age we see many around us rise to strength and many more fall on
their face but some of them whom we have grown fond of will inevitably
perish before our days are up. In the few hundred years that Jalenkan
has been alive he has come to know many people that became his
brothers or sisters in battle whether he liked them or not. Droghnund the
Drillmaster was one of these individuals. He didn't care for him very much
and at times resented that he held position over himself but he always
shown the respect which his title conveyed. With the Drillmaster having
taken his own life Jalenkan finds a longing for his relinquished position
and has told Commander Fjarn he would be glad to serve.

The falling of the Drillmaster was not the only one that Jalenkan feels for
and he does mourn the deaths of his sister Xiu and his star-crossed love
Ramora. His heart was filled with anger and sadness at the loss of these
two women warriors. He had seen Xiu almost as his younger sister when
they had traveled together in the past and cared greatly for her. Ramora,
on the other hand, he had faced as an enemy for all of their life
encounters but it was in that time which he found her true beauty and thus
his resulting attraction. It is in these times which Jalenkan takes time to
look deep within and contemplates how long he truly has left to live as
well.

During times of soul searching many are able to find a greater piece of
mind that will aid them in whichever endeavor they seek. Jalenkan was
lucky enough to realize his ever shortening time in Thera and has began
thinking of the legacy he wishes to leave behind for the village. He plans
to do all that he can to keep the men and women of the village in line,
learning and growing stronger so that both he and the village will remain
and grow even stronger in the future.
