I have no idea what you're talking about, but the brief testing I did with waylay doesn't cause you to auto-attack anything if the opponent can see you or it's too early to ambush you again. You just stand there.

I don't know if I'm attacking the person which I called auto attack or if the creature is attacking me but it is the same in all of my ranger experiences.
