As I saw this on the long term projects, I won't give any specific detailed ideas of my own (like adding cutoff/chargeset). but if it's possible and can be done fast enough, work on champions a little and make them better?

This is the time for your ideas. What you've asked for "make them better" can be asked for any race, class, cabal. In essence, it's a pointless request. If you aren't going to provide some ideas, or specific details, I'm not going to either.

I didn't give any ideas as I thought in the long term you have a list of them and maybe just work on some of them. But as you say, I give some of the ideas I thought about:

bat: better chance to cancel attacks
bat: chance to disarm based on str/agility/disarm
charge set/distance/spin: champions are considered somehow defensive. using polearms they might learn charge setting and distance and with staff using spin.
marshal bravery: smashing the end of his polearm/staff on the ground and determined to fight to the last drop of your blood your enemies find not enough courage to stand and fight! (force them to flee) based on charisma
fend: a chance to auto fend based on agility/wis/fend
