If you have a boat in your inventory, can it count for something?

And if the invoker makes a pit BELOW the quicksand, why doesn't it pour into it. Also, how does one fall through quicksand and into a spiked pit, because there's a missing component and Isaac Newton would like to have a word with your floating quicksand. Call it what you will, this stuff is acting more like magic holy jello and glue than quicksand.


Feel free to make something up to explain this phenomena if there can be no improvement.

Everyone who doesn't have fly up permanently or nearly permanently is already carrying a boat in their inventory all the time.

If you want to add a penalty vs. existing effectiveness if you don't have a boat you might be able to talk me into it...

Couple things about pits I've always wondered about:

1. The invoker being in a pit beats both mark of the prey and piercing gaze with respect to the "where" command.

2. It's impossible to vanish out of a pit.

Also I'll echo the original question about the interaction of pit + quicksand (above). It just seems so incredibly bad for any non-flying person who can't word directly out of combat.

When flying, quicksand is not an issue.

When walking with a boat, quicksand should be an issue but drastically less than not flying without a boat.

With a pit AND quicksand, I don't think there should be quicksand above a pit but only in it or around where the pit is. And if there is quicksand in a pit, there is no impact or spike damage. How does that sound?

You're missing the point. Every single player has a boat. You want to make quicksand work less on every single player.

And arials. But even arials should have boats. Not Storm giants though.
