9828, Plague and lowbies...

Ok here is the scenerio. I am merely resting a the healer in Galadon because they pass out free heals and refreshes when you are under level 10. I wake up and then this happens.

Somebody howls in pain as blood flows through the pores of his skin.
You feel nauseous and start to bleed through the pores of your skin.
Somebody's burning, weeping sores MUTILATES him!
You feel less righteous.
You howl in pain as blood flows through the pores of your skin.
Someone shudders and starts to bleed the the pores of his skin.
You fade into existence.
Your burning, weeping sores MUTILATES you!
Someone howls in pain as blood flows through the pores of his skin.

I know this is one of the dangers of carrion fields, but should a pre-pk(under 10) person be able to catch transferable plague? I mean if it is from a spell from a mob or item I understand, but just from being in proximity to others? Luckily I was of a high enough level this did not out right kill me, and I had the money to heal it.

If this is filed under "Does Not Happen Enough to Matter" category I would understand, but I was not happy when I saw this.

Despite the fact that this scenario (a pre-level 10 catching crimson scourge) is fairly improbable, given the nature of the spell, the severety of the consequences should it occur is probably enough to pursuade me to recommend giving folks a warning vice the actual disease itself.

Plague is less contageous, less deadly and easier to cure, especially when it is caught second-hand. I think I'd be happy leaving that one the way it is.

I'd chalk it up as a learning experience. Had you been a real newbie, you would have learned via the newbie channel (or other means) how to cure disease.

Thera is a dangerous place.

For the record, I also felt bad the time I was fighting the AP guildguard and a bunch of newbies showed up. He area fireballed and killed one of them. The guy came back to his corpse, sacc'ed all his things and deleted.

9830, Think about this though

You are protected from accidental poisoning, and shown an echo about what would have happened. I think it would be all right to protect them from scourge/plague and show an echo for that as well, til they reach pk.

First off if I was a real newbie, I would be so pissed at this game at something stupid and unexplainable from my perspective I would quite cf and never return. I think I would also think that this was some pk power that I thought I was immune from.

Also if I were a real newbie, I would probably not had time to get an answer via newbie channel seeing as how that plague would have killed me in three of four more ticks. And I would also be so irate with the game that I would not communicate what had happened clearly even if I had known.

At least this is what I think me as a person would have done.

I think it should just not be so easily transferable (or make less damage) to a pre 11. A newbie should not be immune to disease but should learn how dangerous it can be (without dying if possible).

(who stopped playing for years after his char died at lvl 5 on hunger and thirst on market square and nearly suffered con death shortly afterwards ;)
